Love this fishing rod!!! Strong, great feel. Use it for trolling for bass. Have it matched with an Avet 5.8.1 and is perfect for what I do. Highly recommended.

Was looking for a 20# mono rod for blues, bass and the little tunas, this should work well. will be used for light trolling and bait fishing. They will be matched with TLD 15's loaded with Momoi 20#. ordering 3 more. reserved 1 star since it hasn't been tested yet

Super impressive quality.

By far some of the best quality vendor rods I have seen yet. High quality build and backed by Tackledirect. Purchased for Striper season in Raritan bay and at the price offered , you can't go wrong!

Eyelet problem

John

The rod looks great and I was looking forward to using it. On our first trip offshore with the rod, and on its first fish, the plastic insert inside the bottom eyelet popped off and got wound onto the reel. To save the fish, we cut the protector off of the line. (Fish was landed successfully.) I had hoped that Tackle Direct would just send me the plastic eyelet protector. I read more imagine it costs less than .05 cents to produce. Instead, they have asked me to return the rod which will require purchasing a shipping tube and paying many multiples of the cost of repair to return the rod.

A little stiff for bait rod, good for trolling.

I bought two of these to pair up with Avet reels and use for albacore live bait fishing. They are a little stiff for my preference, but they'll make great trolling rods for the same fish.

Great value!

I don't know who Tackle Direct is using to manufacture their new line of rods, but they have hit a home run with this one. This rod is very impressive, braid line ready, stout and overbuilt for battle with anything. I'm done buying rods for comparison in name recognition. I have changed my best conventional reel over to this rod. For performance, quality and especially the price, read more this new Tackle Direct rod works for me.

Asked by Nobel 3 years ago

Would you recommend this 20-40 rod paired with a Fathom ld30 2 speed for snapper and grouper on the bottom, trolling deep divers for grouper, and ballyhoo for dolphin or is the 30-80 a better mixed use choice for those applications?

Paul Olah 3 years ago

The 30-80 <a href="https://www.tackledirect.com/tackledirect-tdssut601mhsb-custom-saltwater-conventional-rod.html">TDSSUT601MHSB</a>  will be a better mixed use rod for what you want to do and it will be better suited to your reel as well.
