Just a great reel
This is my second VR50. Bought one for my son. A very tough reel. Drag and castability second to none. I highly recommend.
Everglades fishing
Van stall speaks for itself
Tight seals quality materials
The new VR 50s
The manual roller kit is a piece of cake to install
Go to back bay reel
A true work horse , This is the reel I grab to go wade fishing . It handles everything you throw at it , after your done spray it down with some water to rinse the salt away , let it dry , then give it a few squirts of oil and she ready for the next trip .
Nice
Very goiod
Bullet proof but heavy
If you are not worried about weight, then these are the reels for you. They'll last a lifetime.
Van Staal VR50
Don't be fooled, I use this reel on a G-Loomis inshore rod for bass and it works like a dream. Not only for surf fishing.
Expensive, but great reel
Took this on a week long trip and it felt great. smooth reeling action, fast retrieve, and love the manual bail. The only thing I would complain about is why did I have to spend 60 bucks on the silver handle knob? Why not just put the bigger silver knob and charge me an extra 60 bucks. Everything is silver on this reel except the knob.
Gucci Reel
I love my 175 so far and will be getting a 50 for a lighter setup.
Best reel I ever had!
This is the best reel I ever had for Surf Fishing. I put this reel on my St. Croix Seage 10'6" Surf Spinning Rod and match perfectly.
Awesome reel
First fish with this reel was an upper slot Red out of the surf. Performed exactly the way you would expect. Very smooth for a sealed reel. It does live up to the Van Staal hype in my opinion. My second reel by Van Staal and I am pleased with both.
A Masterpiece
Definately a masterpiece of engineering & product design. The finest reel I have ever owned. Machining is exceptional; surfaces are finely finished.
Extremely smooth operation, I can see all of my friends begging to try it. I own & have fished 3 Stella's and they are very smooth too, but the VanStall had me smiling like a kid on Christmas morning. Really, really 'ROCKSOLID'

The VR 150 would be excellent to pair with a 9' Star Rods Surf rod.
They will pair up nicely for almost any species hiding in the surf
The VR200 would balance well and be a nice pairing with that rod.
The vr50
VR125, but any size would serve you well.
I would recommend a 150-175 size.
Should have more available in a month or so.
The 175 would be a good choice. Pair that with a 10 foot Century Sling shot
The spool is interchangeable
The vr200 is larger and the rod depends on what you're fishing for.
Max length rod to pair with the vr50 would be a 9 foot like the St.Croix mojo surf
Depends on the freshwater rod. If it were a musky rod it would fit.
The vr175 would pair up well with the TZS-72MH-BLK
Give or take close to 350 yards of 20lb mono
The vr50 would balance out well with a avid inshore.
This reel is only available in a left hand crank
Depends on what 4000 because all brands are different. Generally the 125 would be the most comparable.
Best size would be the vr50 for most snook and reds
The vr50 can handle the smaller side of those species.
The vr150 is a sealed reel
Stainless steel.
Hello Joe, the vr200 will be sufficient enough for the Canal just don't use anything larger then a 40 pound braid.
The vr125 or the vr150 would pair up nicely with a 9 foot rod.
Hello Pablo, If the rod is a St.Croix mojo surf then it would pair up nicely with the vr200. As far as the line we can spool mono for free(test of your choice) if you would like braid you would need to purchase the braid first then request to have it spoo
From what we've heard there will not be a bailess kit for the VR50
Hello Dave, the St.Croix Avid inshore would pair nice with the vr150.
The smallest and best option would be the vr50. Small, powerful and versatile.
Hello John, If the Vr50 is like the rest of the vr reels from Van Staal it comes with a micro click drag knob.
