Broke after 2 trips

Used the reel two times and it failed on the second trip...when I crank the handle it doesn't retrieve any line, and you can hear the gears on the inside clanking.

Decent reel for the price. Used it for surf fishing and it performed well.

Very good all around saltwater reel. While being very lighter. Almost seems cheap but is a beast.

Solid Reel

Good reel for the price. Been using it for ocean fluke and sea bass. Line capacity is also good. Got a little chip in the finish after light use.

Great new Product

I haven't fished this reel yet, but it's a very interesting, low profile, well built and put together reel that looks strong and would be useful in many applications with 25# of drag. I put 300 yds. of 20# power pro on it, so the capacity is good for anything I fish for.

Decent Reel, gets the job done.

I have read a couple other reviews about the clicker being loud. The reel I received, the clicker sound is non existent. Prevents backlash, but mine barley makes a noticeable audible difference.

Great reel

I agree with Marvin, this reel is a monster ! I loaded this reel with 20 lb braid,to fish for black seabass and fluke.while jigging I hooked into a 40 lb striper! This reel is awesome for its size. it's very smooth and has a loud clicker and very strong drag system.

Did the job!!

Even though I can’t fill it with that Japanese braid that’s really thin. It’s still did the job. Luckily I didn’t get spooled on this 28 lbs yellow tail!!

Have used this reel 3 times now for stripers and sea bass. So far so good. Very pleased with the sturdiness and smoothness this real has, especially at it's price. A friend saw it perform on one trip and ordered one that night.st

Specs are way off!

The reel feels solid and I do believe it has 30+ #'s of drag... Buuuuuuuut the line capacity is WAY OFF. I dont know what braid they used to get over 300 yds of 45#'s but I could barely get 190 yds of 40# braid. Very disappointing!!!

This reel is a monster. The Titan Claw opened my eyes to Tica reels. I didn't even know they made them to be honest. The reel is versatile. I'll be using it for all types off saltwater applications, from deep water flounder jigging to chugging topwater plugs for Dolphin offshore. Ill update this review with pictures in the near future.

Love the reel

Love the reel so much that I had to buy a 2nd one. Both reel spooled with Power Pro 50lbs braided line, and both are paired up with Phenix Abyss PSX809 rods. Mainly using both setup for live bait fishing out here in the Bay Area, California for California/ Pacific Halibuts, Striped Bass, and Rock/ Ling Cod inshore and offshore saltwater fishing. The clicker on this reel is loud read more and a major plus. Fish on my angler bubbies #TeamFishGang

Slow Pitch Gem

I use the Tica TightenClaw for slow pitch in the Dry Tortuga’s and Pully Ridge. It’s light at 13 oz and has strong gears to pull in those big Groupers and Snappers. I like this type of reel for slow pitch because it easy. The thumb bar bottom to release and engage the spook and the level wind means I don’t have to use my other hand....I can keep it on the reel handle the whole read more time !!!!

Awesome reel

Asked by garrett 3 years ago

what size rod would i pair this with? i was thinking a size heavy teramar.

Alex T 3 years ago

I would recommend a JiggingWorld Nexus MH, St Croix Mojo Inshore MH or HF. A Teramar or Trevala PX would work great as well

Asked by Will 4 years ago

Are these reels better casters the the okuma kamodo?

Sydney 4 years ago

Okuma is a well-respected brand known for making high-quality products. I cannot speak as highly of the lesser-known Tica reels. Though if I had to recommend one, it would be an Okuma product.
