Shimano TRN-100G Triton Graphite Levelwind Reel: Can you walk and chew gum at the same time? Okay that one was easy. But when trolling can you grab the rod fight the fish and reel in your downriggers at the same time? Ah hah. That gets a little trickier.Sometimes its not such a bad idea to have a le...velwind feature on your downrigging reels so all you have to think about is winding frantically. Nor does it hurt to have a solid one-piece graphite frame a large drag surface and your choice of lever drag on the Charter Special or star drag on the TRN. And you can even use both reels for light saltwater applications. Overall it just makes the whole process a lot less complicated.TackleDirect TDSSC701MHT Silver Hook Series Inshore Conventional Rod: TackleDirect Custom Saltwater rods are high performance resulting from stringent "on the water" design and testing by some of the finest sport anglers around the world. This TDSSC701MHT Silver Hook Series Inshore Conventional Rod offers an excellent blend of power sensitivity and durability making it an ideal option for many applications up and down the East Coast. Whether you are bouncing a bucktail at your favorite wreck for doormat fluke or chunking bunker for trophy striped bass in the Northeast to bottom fishing for amberjack grouper and snapper in the Southeast this is the perfect rod to put together a memorable catch for you and your crew.

Perfect for light jigging for all inshore fish.
Bought 2 of these combos. Great rod with serious backbone. Great for large flounder, big tog and sea bass. My go to rod for the boat!
Very good combo for fluke
Used for the 1st time yesterday, going after Tautog. The bite up here is still on the cool side. I was impressed with the rod action, and the reel was flawless.
Good feel
Great combo for the price. Rod is real sensitive, can easily feel fish picking on a bait. Cork grips are nice, a tad short on the butt.
Reel is perfect for fluking. Clicker is loud.
Nice outfit good price
This was a good buy for a species specific outfit. The Tackle Direct rod was nice and light and sensitive enough to let you know a fluke was interested. The reel was what you would expect from Shimano, that is great quality and well constructed to withstand the salt water conditions. Not such a great buy at $199 but a bargain at $149. This rod should perform well bucktailing for fluke but may be a little on the stiff side if typically using bucktails lighter than 2oz.
The rod action is perfect for bucktails 2oz and up

Hello, unfortunately tis model does not have left hand retrieve. Sorry for any inconvenience.
The reel that this combo comes with is the TRN-100G which is the Shimano TRN-100G Triton Graphite Levelwind Reel.
This combo would work for Blackfish but you may want to consider a heavier rod if you using weights above 6 oz.
