Works good for the money

great little reel for the money. Perfect for light tackle fishing. Kids love the level wind. SO do I. Less time spent fixing fouled line. Recommend it .

Good Disposable Reel

Good reel but not that durable. The level wind system is fragile. Mine did break. Was easier to just buy a new reel.

Looks great, holds lots of lead core

Nice light reel, holds more line than the 100G model. Can't wait to try it out!

Nice and light

Nice and light reel, looks great. I will be using 27 lb lead core braid on it to start as a trolling setup for striped bass. Only issue is the handle sucks so I ordered a nicer one from Shimano directly (that is for another reel... check youtube reviews to find it)

Great pier fishing reel

Bought this reel awhile back and love it. I might be a little bias cause I am a Shimano fanboy, but it is just what I was looking for in a pier/jetty fishing reel. Not to bulky but small enough to cast far as I need it to go. Feels sturdy enough to handle big to small fish on. I put 30# Powerpro braid on and cast a smooth as ever. Would recommend to any one in the market for one read more of these reels.

1st Levelwind Reel

I do quite a bit of bottom fishing and I wanted to add a conventional/levelwind reel to my arsenal. This Shimano TR100-G is just the right size!

I bought a second set of Triton 100/200 G's - Great reels!

Fantastic reels for the buck. I've caught more than 50 king salmon up to 35 lbs. on these reels. Almost all of them mooching bait. Great for light trolling including inland trout. These reels worked super on big slamin' coho salmon with dipsy divers in Alaska. They also work great for California halibut and striped bass. Will do rockfish but not recommended for bigger ling cod (in read more the rocks). Keep in mind the Triton's are more a finesse type reel. They do great on fast fish that run higher in the water column or over clean bottom. They don't do that well on powerful bottom fish that you need to turn or bulldog out of the rocks etc. I spool it with Trilene Big Game mono in 17 or 20 lb. test and usually pair it with a longer/limber 8 foot down rigger type rod. You can pay a lot more and not get much more in performance. I'm usually surrounded by expensive reels on the salmon charter boats and these "man in the grey suit" Triton's hold their own with great results!

Love the reel hate the handle

I'm not a fan of this handle, personally if they made it a rubber or round handle knob this reel would be my go to reel for a budget setup that I wouldn't be so sad if it flew out my hands into the ocean lol

Broke down with 2nd bluefish

Cuba j.

I bought this for my grandson with a lightweight tsunami rod and after a couple of medium bluefish the level wind cracked and quit working. With a fish on, the reel felt like a toy, none of the solidity of a decent reel. Penn, here I come.
I have a Shimano Torium also and I have had lots of problems with it,- and I take care of the equipment.

JUST WHAT I WANTED

I purchased this reel as part of an all around bottom fishing set-up for the western L.I. SOUND. I have it matched to a Tsunami Classic rod rated for 15-25 lb. line. I use 30 lb. braid. This to me is a great set-up for the fluke, porgies, sea bass and blackfish, as well as the ocassional bluefish, striper and weakfish that I may encounter in the areas I fish. It's not a $ 200 reel read more but for a guy who bottom fishes once or twice a week or on a party boat, its just what you need at a great price. I hope Shimano continues to make this reel for years to come.

Heck I've done 2 video reviews on this reel...!!!

And weekly the Youtube reviews I have done on my channel still have me answering questions. NOTHING.....really NOTHING in a star drag levelwind reel can compare to plain simple usefullness of this reel. It's bullet proof. I own now 24 of these and have them in service on my charter boats and they have never let me down. They catch 100 pounders as easily as a 3 pounder. I sent Shimano read more a letter once saying. "PLEASE do not drop the ball and stop making these reels...or I'll freak!"

No reel will keep on reeling in fish as good as these.
