The 30W Tiagra is my go to reel for midshore NJ Tuna trolling and chunking. Super high Shimano quality. Plenty of line capacity and drag for our mid shore 20 to 100 lb bluefin and yellowfin and the two speed capability and size / weight make it a great reel for pulling in side trackers and spreader bars in a hurry when you need to clear lines.

Ask a Question

Asked by Tom 4 years ago

how can I get a replacement handle only for a Tiagra 50W LRS

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

You can purchase replacement handles either through the manufacture, ebay or amazon.

Asked by Grant L. 4 years ago

Could you tell me what the target species would be for the Tiagra 20A? Seems like everybody either goes with 30's or 50's. What was the intent of this size reel? Thank you.

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

The Tiagra reel are for the most part strictly trolling reels. They are designed for long range fishing to be used with heavy line and to target many different species.

Asked by Kirill 5 years ago

Tell me please . I want to buy a reel Shimano tiagra 50 wlrsa, but I do not know which rod is suitable for bottom fishing. I really need your advice

Bernie 5 years ago

A heavy or extra heavy rated straight or bent butt rod for the Tiagra 50w, just note the primary use of that reel is trolling.

Asked by Hays 6 years ago

Hi what is the difference between the TI50WA and TI50WLRSA? Thanks

Bernie 6 years ago

The TI50WLRSA has got the drag of a 80w its a more aggressive reel meant for braid with a strong mono top shot.

Asked by Brett 2 years ago

I am looking for rods to pair with my 2 Tiagra 16s. I would be using them for light trolling in the Gulf of Mexico of the coast of Texas.

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

<span>Hi Brett, Based on your fishing application I would recommend the Shimano TEBC66MHSBA Talavera Bluewater Ring Guide Slick Butt Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-tebc66mhsba-talavera-bluewater-ring-guide-slick-butt-rod.html</a><span

Just moved to San Diego and I’m going to start deep-sea fishing on the long-range boats. Need several rod and reel set ups. What would you recommend to get me started. <p>I guess they mostly fish for yellow fin, blue fin, and yellowtail,</p>

Brian 4 years ago

Mike, limitless options here and the setups will really depend on the trips you plan on taking. Here are a few options to get you started, and please reach out to us if you need any more in depth help.<p><br /></p><p>Light Yellowtail / Calico Setup:</p><p

Asked by Ben 4 years ago

Would there be an advantage to having the 80 over the 130 for shark fishing on the beach? They both seem to have the line capacity and drag to handle large sharkd. I am new to shark fishing and need help deciding which reel to get..

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

The 80 would be more then enough for sharking off the beach. It's also a a lot lighter in weight so fatigue won't be that much of a issue.

Asked by Dabe 5 years ago

What would be a better reel for trolling double Mojo rigs for stripers.? I was looking at the TLD 20 single speed or 2 speed and now was checking out posibly the Tiara 20 2 speed.<p> </p>

Ryan McCluskey 5 years ago

Both reels would handle that just fine. <p><br /></p><p>A 2-Speed is not going to be necessary for trolling mojos and some would consider the Tiagra to be a bit overkill for targeting Striped Bass, but would work just fine.</p>

Asked by Austin 6 years ago

Do you offer the Shimano Tiagra 130's in silver?

Donald 6 years ago

The Shimano Tiagra A Two Speed Lever Drag Reels 130's are not available in Silver.

Asked by Brad 7 years ago

Could I use the Tiagra 12A for surf casting or casting off the rocks? I know the Avet JX or Trinidad would be a good choice but I like the look of the Tiagra. What do you think?

Donald 7 years ago

I would advise using the Avet JX or the Trinidad for better casting ability. The Tiagra really isn't meant to be used for casting.

Asked by Michael 9 years ago

What is the difference between the Shimano Tiagra and Talica 2-Speed Reels?

Customer Service 9 years ago

The Tiagras are nearly 2X the weight of the Talicas and are more trolling and chunking reels. They have very similar drag ratings. The Talica will have slightly less line capacity. Most people are now going with the Talicas because they allow you to use "

Customer Service 9 years ago

Thanks for the question. Yes, the Tiagra is still being made in Japan. Basically, the difference between the old and new Tiagra is the handle.
