Talica 50II
This was my dream reel when I started fishing for pelagics on oahu. Little pricey but so smooth and strong love this reel.
It’s Shimano
I have the 12 , I bought this Talica 25 for big tuna, drag is smooth like butter , theres a reason this reel was one of the best in the market!
A Must!
Hands down my favorite reel for pulling up big Muttons and Groupers of the bottom, heavy duty drag thats smooth. There is none better.Worthy every penny!
Best you can get
These are hands down the best most powerful for the size reels you can get. They are pricey but well worth it. They will last a lifetime. I own two of these and have no regrets.
Awesome Reels
Nothing compares to Shimano! Look to purchase a couple more! Fast shipping and great service from TD!
Good live bait Tuna reel
Got for live bait use while Tuna fishing. Reel is amazingly smooth
Still the best
Would be better if they made a left hand retrieve, but it's still the best trolling and live lining reel there is.
LOVE ALL TALICA'S
all talicas are great!
this is my first 10 2 speed and great reel!
The best
I use the TAC25II with Super Seeker 2x4 for targeting big bluefin. Works well with flat fall and kite/balloon a flying fish.
Tuna Perfection
For west coast tuna, this reel checks all the boxes - Super smooth, plenty of drag, and casts better than any other lever drag 2 speed I have ever fished. The 16 gives me all I need in 50 or 60# class - but the muscle to bump up to 80 if needed. Light enough to hold at the rail all day. While the newest addition to my offshore setups, It is already my favorite and go to reel.
Awesome Reel
This is a great versatile reel, capable of handling yellow fin tuna to deep dropping. Reel is very smooth, very strong, and has quality written all over it.
Talica 16 Two Speed
Bought this reel for tuna chunking and matched it with a Shimano Terez. Havent used it chunking yet, but found it can be used for jigging, if you like. Its a very nice smooth reel and has worked well so far.
Fantastic Reels
I actually prefer these over the Tiagras.
The Talica is an excellent choice for offshore trolling. The Shimano Tallus or Terez trolling rods are the rods you will want to pair one up with.
I think it would be a good choice for that. It is very light and smooth, which is a good choice when stand up fishing. It also has a high line capacity for medium-heavy line weights, which is always a benefit when deep bottom fishing. Overall, this is a g
Hello Jon. The price difference is for both reasons. It is a significantly larger reel with a much stronger drag system. It is of aluminum construction as well. Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!
Bert, The Talica series would be an excellent reel for Halibut fishing.
Hello Ken. Take a look at the Terez slick butt rods seen here: http://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-terez-slick-butt-stand-up-ring-guide-rods.html These will be perfect for your setup. Feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!
Depending what you are fishing for, there could be a number of different options. An example is the Shimano Terez series.
First, you only adjust your preset drag while the lever is in free spool. You can cause damage to the reel otherwise. You will need to use a spring scale in order to know how many pounds of pressure you would like to have applied when the drag is in strik
There are a lot of options for that application. I would recommend taking a look at Avet reels with the Magic Cast feature. Another very solid option would be the Shimano Talica II.
The mono specs are 15/380 20/270 25/215 and the braid specs are 40/540 50/535 65/335.
Yes, the body of the reel is virtually identical and i would recommend using the 10 for more line capacity.
The Talica 16 would be a useful reel for tile fishing in NJ. Thank you for considering TcakleDirect for your fishing needs and have a great day.
Shimano Talica's are only available in a right hand retrieve.
John, Hello yes the talica would be a good reel for jigging.
The Talica 20 would be the best fit for the size tuna your targeting and use a size Large Shimano reel cover.
The 6'6'' or 7' H models would be good options for the Talica 20 your looking to fish with in San Diego.
Yes Sir
I would recommend going with a size 12 or 16 Talica for your fishing application, both reels should supply enough line capacity and have the drag capable of making quick work of these fish
<span>The Shimano Talica TAC8II has a Braid Line Capacity of: 40lb/395yds and 50lb/390yds. The Shimano Talica TAC10II has a Braid Line capacity of: 40lb/540yds and 50lb/535yds. This rating is based on standard Powerpro Braided line. But it all depends on
<span>Hi Ed, Depending on your fishing application, I would recommend a Shimano TVXFC58H Trevala PX Jigging Casting Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-tvxfc58h-trevala-px-jigging-casting-rod.html</a><span> This would match your Shimano Ta

Depending on the species of tuna you would be fishing for I would say the Shimano Trevala Butterfly Jigging Casting Rods would pair up nice with the Talica.
