Built to provide high end performance and dependability in a compact lightweight frame the Shimano SpeedMaster II Lever Drag Reel is an absolute fish fighting machine. These two-speed lever drag reels feature the same sleek and functional design coupled with unrelenting power that blue water anglers... have come to expect from Shimano conventional reels but now at a price that everyone can appreciate. The rigid Hagane Body prevents the misalignment of moving parts under the heaviest of loads giving the SpeedMaster II the strength to handle anything from tough pelagic species to bottom dwelling heavy weights. Whether you are trolling chunking live-lining or jigging the SpeedMaster II has the wide adjustable drag and high torque power you can rely on to come out on top. Included is a spare drag lever for adjusting the drag curve for optimal use with monofilament lines giving the SpeedMaster II a less aggressive drag curve that is ideal for targeting sailfish and white marlin.

Big Fish Fighter
Used this reel with 80lb braid to tackle multiple 50-80lb halibut from 200+ feet of water. It worked reliably and efficiently every time.
SHIMANO SPM1211
THE SHIMANO SPM1211 IS A PERFECT 2 SPEED LEVER DRAG REEL FOR THOSE DEEP SEA MONSTERS.THE ALL METAL 0NE PIECE FRAME DOESN'T FLEX (LIKE SOME OF THOSE GRAPHITE FRAMED REELS) WHEN FIGHTING A BIG FISH. THE LEVER DRAG IS GREAT FOR THOSE LONG RUNS. THIS REEL IS A PERFECT SIZE. IT HOLDS A NICE AMOUNT OF 50 LB BRAID. I COULDN'T RESIST BUYING THIS REEL WHEN I FIRST LAID MY EYES ON IT. Where's the lefthanded reels. Two speed, Level wind. You are the leader. Stop discriminating against lefty fishermen. We are 20 percent of your buyers.
No lefthanded. Level wind 2 speed reels. Not even in lefthanded electric reels. There's a market out there.
RIPSbTHE GATES OFF OF HELL
This thang right here RIPS THE GATES STARIGHT OFF OF HELL. Whatever bites the bait is coming home with you. Thanks to its overwhelming drag and 2 speed functionality. If you're wondering if its worth the money. Have no fear the SPEEDMASTER is here!
Worth the money
Perfect for trolling or bottom fishing. I use it for stripers. Worth the money
Very good buy
Lite weight, smooth drag, 400 yds 65# braid with 50 mono leader, easy to balance and reel under pressure.
Quality
I have been fishing for years and this reel is at the top of my list for fishing for Yellow Tail down in the Sea of Cortez. If you love fishing like I do, you will love this reel. Smooth and comfortable to use.
Not bad for the price
I bought this reel and paired it with a shimano terez to do vertical jigging and wreck fishing. This is not a bad reel. Its not a talica but I can get the job done.

I would go with the 16 size strictly to improve your trolling capabilities. This will also give you some extra power as well.
The Shimano Terez 7'0" Heavy would be a great fit for the Shimano Speedmaster 25.
The Shimano Speedmaster II is one of the most capable reels on the market and will work for all styles of fishing you have listed, and many more.
The 12 and 16 are essentially the same reel, with the 12 featuring a slightly narrower spool. If the 12 holds enough line for you, that would be the one to go with.
We would recommend the 12II, would pair best with that model Terez rod. Has plenty of power and line capacity for snapper and grouper.

The Speedmaster II Lever Drag reels feature brass gears.
We would recommend the 16 over the 20 and would also recommend dropping down from 80lb unless you are going with a thinner diameter braid like maxcuatro or similar. 50lb or 65lb would be best, thinner the diameter the less resistance and ultimately less s

Unfortunately, it does not.
