Great little reel

ChuckD

For what I use it for, inshore on a M-ML 7’6” rod, it balanced well, has adequate line capacity and enough drag at 20lbs

Light and priced right

This reel isstill light but doesn’t have the refinement of its more expensive siblings. It feels like a Shimano, but more plastic, has a thru handle and more rotor flex. I have the 3k size and it’s fine for what I use it for. It’s not a twinpower but still at a great entry giving you salt water use over an entry Sahara

Super Reel

Great light weight reel, but can handle decent size Striped Bass, Tough and rugged for a small reel. Great smooth drag system and spool handles ample 150 yds of 20lb test braid

Amazing

Great reel for the price. Versatile, sturdy, smooth, and casts very well. Has CoreProtect and X-Ship which is great at this price point. Purchased a couple for 10 and 14 year-old grandkids.

this reel hasn't failed me yet with the beating I've put on it

As smooth as my Stradic for less than ? the price

David

Very smooth reel, not as sealed as my stradic FL, but just as smooth. I am freshwater and the 3000 size is perfect. From trout to medium catfish, this reel has served me well. Save about $30 and get the Sahara, they are the same, but the sahara isn't sealed, but gearing and all is exactly the same.

Sloppy and heavy

First I'm a Shimano fan. However after one year of light use this reel is very sloppy. Would say this reel is good for a backup reel or bait fishing. Not for regular use for tubes, ned or other lures.

Very Surprised

Need a back up light tackle reel for trout, rock, and reds. This thing is smooth and better than I would have thought.

Hard to beat for the money

Overall pleased with this reel. Shimano reels can get super pricey but the Nasci is a good value. I got the 4000 size to use for inshore saltwater fishing and so far I love it. Good line capacity and a solid drag if you happen to hook a bigger fish. Using on an 8’6 ultralight surf rod at the moment.

Shimano NASCI Spinning Reels Questions and Answers

Ask a Question

Asked by Steven 4 years ago

Will the 3000 be good for light tackle seabass jigging with diamond jigs and blackfish jigging?

Bernie De Graaf 4 years ago

The Nasci's are great little reels with a good amount of drag pressure in a small reel, it would be perfect for how you want to use it.

Asked by Thomas Cummings 5 years ago

Casual Fisherman here. I fish inshore and offshore for anything from trout to Redfish. I am buying this reel, but am unsure of what the best line to put on it is. I am guessing something braided, but I'm not sure.

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

Standard power pro or the power pro superslick.

Asked by Duy Hoang 5 years ago

Do you have Shimano NASCI 2500S

Bernie 5 years ago

NAS2500FB is the only Shimano Nasci in that size.

Asked by Sam radke 6 years ago

Can this reel be used in saltwater

Bernie 6 years ago

Hello Sam, yes this reel can be used in salt water.

Asked by Mike 6 years ago

Can you get extra spools so that I can have alternate line weights?

Bernie 6 years ago

Hi Mike, We don't have nor sell extra spools but they can be purchased through Shimano directly.

Asked by Kenny 3 years ago

Is the spool braid ready?

Brian - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

Kenny,

The Nasci reels do not feature a gasket in the center of the spool like some reels from other manufacturers, but they can certainly be used with braid right out of the box. Would recommend a small amount of mono backing or some tape

Asked by Farkas 4 years ago

Does the Nasci 4000 come with a cross carbon or oil felt drag?

B Smith 4 years ago

Farkas,

The Nasci has a cross carton drag.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!

Asked by James Metternich 5 years ago

What are the bail wire diameter sizes of the SYMETRY 3000 and 4000? What are the sizes of the Nasci wire bail diameter-for the 3000 and 4000?

Rebecca 5 years ago

The bail diameter on the 3000 is 5/64 (0.078) of an inch. The diameter on the 4000 is 11/128 (0.085) of an inch. Unfortunately, we no longer carry the Symetre to give measurements.

Asked by Jerry 6 years ago

Inshore, what is the right rod to pair with the 4000, saltwater red and speck fishing, fresh bass and stripper fishing?

Donald 6 years ago

The St Croix MIS76MF Mojo Inshore Spinning Rod would be an ideal match paired with the Nasci 4000 for the application your using the combo for.

Asked by Tim DeGeorge 6 years ago

can I switch the handle for a left handed person? Just ordered this as a gift and realized he is left handed...

Donald 6 years ago

The Shimano NASCI Spinning Reels handles can be switched from l/h to r/h.

Asked by Chad 7 years ago

2500 paired with 7' med light xfast for Ned, wacky, finesse etc. rod suggestion? Kayak fisherman

Donald 7 years ago

The 2500 paired with a St. Croix MJS610MLXF Mojo Bass Spinning Rod - 6 ft. 10 in. would be a great match for the application your using the combo for.

Asked by Ethan Noetling 7 years ago

does that white thing come off the spool?

Devon 7 years ago

Yes, that white label is there to list certain features and technologies it includes while the reel is on display. It needs to be removed before spooling.

Devon 7 years ago

Yes. The white label on the spool is for display purposes. It should be removed before spooling.
