Offering some of Shimano’s flagship technologies and uncompromising quality in a package that even the budget-minded angler can enjoy the Shimano Nasci is an exciting new reel that both freshwater and saltwater anglers can make use of. Featuring Shimano’s HGN Gearing the Shimano Nasci offers lon...g-term gear durability not normally associated with spinning reels in it’s class. X-Ship technology is also employed in the Nasci. X-Ship makes use of a dual bearing-supported pinion gear that keeps precise alignment with the drive gear leading to a more connected feel under heavy loads less friction between the spool shaft and gear and years of dependable operation and performance.Adding to the list of features is one rarely seen in a reel of this class. CoreProtect protects three critical areas of the Shimano Nasci - the roller clutch the body and the line roller from water intrusion. Couple this with the use of Hagane Gear which uses state-of-the-art manufacturing processes to produce an incredible durable gear system and you have a spinning reel that can take whatever you throw at it and continue to perform all without breaking the bank. Shimano Technology Found In Nasci Reels :CoreProtect - The concept of CoreProtect is simple ? to provide exceptional water resistance without creating any additional rotational resistance on the retrieve. The reel is treated at key areas such as the roller clutch body and line roller to resist water intrusion.G-Free Body - G-Free Body technology enables the reel’s center of gravity to be moved closer to the center of the reel seat and therefore the anglers hand position. This shift in weight and balance helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.Hagane Gear - Boasting amazing strength and durability Hagane Gear is a process in which the gearing is calculated in minute detail and cold forged instead of being cut. This application of state-of-the-art technologies gives the angler reel smoothness from the first use through years of enjoyment.Super Stopper - Super Stopper anti-reverse uses a one-way stainless steel roller bearing to eliminate back-play in the reel and provide the angler with instant power when setting the hook.X-Ship - By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with bearings the pinion gear remains in precise alignment with the drive gear and stays in the same position under even the heaviest of loads. This eliminates friction between the spool shaft and gear which translates to better casting performance and increased gear durability.

Nasci 3000
great little reel, smooth and priced right. hard to go wrong here!
Great little reel
For what I use it for, inshore on a M-ML 76 rod, it balanced well, has adequate line capacity and enough drag at 20lbs
Light and priced right
This reel isstill light but doesnt have the refinement of its more expensive siblings. It feels like a Shimano, but more plastic, has a thru handle and more rotor flex. I have the 3k size and its fine for what I use it for. Its not a twinpower but still at a great entry giving you salt water use over an entry Sahara
Super Reel
Great light weight reel, but can handle decent size Striped Bass, Tough and rugged for a small reel. Great smooth drag system and spool handles ample 150 yds of 20lb test braid
Amazing
Smooth and can take a beating
Smooth as butter
Love this reel with my Glooms rods. I've got 4 NASCI reels
Shimano Nasci
I really like this vey nice Shimano Nasci 5000 model spinning reel I use it for in shore fishing
Great reel
Smooth , tough, long casting, Shimano reliable. I use it for Northern Pike. Never failed me.
Shimano Nasci 1000FB is very nice reel
Great reel for the price. Versatile, sturdy, smooth, and casts very well. Has CoreProtect and X-Ship which is great at this price point. Purchased a couple for 10 and 14 year-old grandkids.
Cant go wrong
smooth, lightweight, and will hold up to the salt
Decent
this reel hasn't failed me yet with the beating I've put on it
As smooth as my Stradic for less than ? the price
Very smooth reel, not as sealed as my stradic FL, but just as smooth. I am freshwater and the 3000 size is perfect. From trout to medium catfish, this reel has served me well. Save about $30 and get the Sahara, they are the same, but the sahara isn't sealed, but gearing and all is exactly the same.
Sloppy and heavy
First I'm a Shimano fan. However after one year of light use this reel is very sloppy. Would say this reel is good for a backup reel or bait fishing. Not for regular use for tubes, ned or other lures.
Very Surprised
Need a back up light tackle reel for trout, rock, and reds. This thing is smooth and better than I would have thought.
Hard to beat for the money
Overall pleased with this reel. Shimano reels can get super pricey but the Nasci is a good value. I got the 4000 size to use for inshore saltwater fishing and so far I love it. Good line capacity and a solid drag if you happen to hook a bigger fish. Using on an 86 ultralight surf rod at the moment.
The Nasci's are great little reels with a good amount of drag pressure in a small reel, it would be perfect for how you want to use it.
Standard power pro or the power pro superslick.
NAS2500FB is the only Shimano Nasci in that size.
Hello Sam, yes this reel can be used in salt water.
Hi Mike, We don't have nor sell extra spools but they can be purchased through Shimano directly.
Kenny,

The Nasci reels do not feature a gasket in the center of the spool like some reels from other manufacturers, but they can certainly be used with braid right out of the box. Would recommend a small amount of mono backing or some tape
Farkas,

The Nasci has a cross carton drag.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!

The bail diameter on the 3000 is 5/64 (0.078) of an inch. The diameter on the 4000 is 11/128 (0.085) of an inch. Unfortunately, we no longer carry the Symetre to give measurements.
The St Croix MIS76MF Mojo Inshore Spinning Rod would be an ideal match paired with the Nasci 4000 for the application your using the combo for.
The Shimano NASCI Spinning Reels handles can be switched from l/h to r/h.
The 2500 paired with a St. Croix MJS610MLXF Mojo Bass Spinning Rod - 6 ft. 10 in. would be a great match for the application your using the combo for.
Yes, that white label is there to list certain features and technologies it includes while the reel is on display. It needs to be removed before spooling.
Yes. The white label on the spool is for display purposes. It should be removed before spooling.
I think it will live.
The Shimano NASCI Spinning Reels come with the gold handle.
