Bernie from Tackle Direct “ sales associate”

My name is Devin and I just purchased the metanium dc, I’m not to crazy about ordering things online so I called and ordered over the phone, usually the sales associates are not the easiest to deal with and often time rude, but this this guy was great he answered all my questions and I have never had a better sales associate assist me, his name is BERNIE and this guy deserves a read more raise, no matter how the reel performs from now on I will only shop here just because of the great experience I have had, the little things like this makes a huge difference to some people if you are looking to buy any fishing gear from here call them and if you’re lucky enough to get Bernie he will take care of you I guarantee it, this world needs more people like him!

Fantastic Reel

I am very pleased with the performance of this reel. I also have a non-DC version of the metanium. I have found the DC to better handle the into the wind casts without backlash.

Worth the price to me

If you can manage the cost you won’t regret the purchase. Sweetest casting/ flipping reel I have. Adjust for bombing cast or light flipping. This reel does it all for me. I’ve never had a reel able to cast 30# braid into the wind with light baits and not have backlashes. I will be saving for another!

Def not for all but best high end reel!

For years I wanted the 2015 DC JDM version, but finally they released here in the states. Great awesome and fun to fish with. High Quality components, and really easy to cast with either braid, fluorocarbon or mono. Can't say how smooth it is. Comparatively Ferrari and BMW when compared with the Curado DC.

Shimano always made good freshwater gear

Way back 30 years ago plus and when I was younger my family lived a considerable amount further away from my fathers boat in Atlantic Highlands than i do today, so freshwater fishing was my main way of fishing, and my shimano was my go to company. Still have some of my old reels in the garage that still work smooth till this day that are older than my son and daughter.

I have purchased many casting reels previously. This one tops them all.

Great reel for those just starting and for those yet to master a perfect cast without makeup a nest. The reel is really smooth, low profile and packed with the latest tech.

After a cast and you are cranking line back does the reel make any noise and or slight vibration while turning the handle? Is it smooth and silent like a non-DC reel?

They should run smooth like most Shimano reels.

Asked by Tommy Cieslik 2 years ago

Would this reel be able to handle big northern pike (45-30 in) and what kind of lures would it be able to handle. Also some rod suggestions would help. Thanks

Hi Tommy, The Shimano Metanium 100 will not be the most ideal. We recommend going with the Shimano Metanium 150 ( https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-metani
