Perfect little bay reel

I purchased four of these perfect little bay reels for flounder fishing. I pair it up with a short ugly stick and have a great time. Its perfect for guests kids and myself. If one breaks or fails I throw it away and grab a new one. I would recommend it for any small bay fishing.

Overall a solid reel for the price that you pay. So far I have no complaints, the bail flipped on me while I was casting once but that was only one time. Drag on the reel is more than you'll need for most fish but good to know you have it just in case. Perfect for a small lightweight rod set up.

Using this reel exclusively for Bass on a medium action rod. Works great most of the time. When it doesn't work well, the spool seems to bind making retrieve very difficult. Haven't been able to identify why this occurs but it always resolves itself after some time off. Next time will buy one or two models up in price/quality

Will the reel hold up to 15 pound test mono or will that be to much for the rod to handle

<span>Hi Dustin, The Shimano FX FC Spinning Reels are only designed for up to 12lb monofilament for the 4000 size model. If you go over this amount your line capacity would be significantly decreased. Instead I would recommend a Shimano NEXC5000HGFI Nexav

Im a novice when it come to reels and the anti reverse feature. How to I prevent the reel from spinning backwards? I know you can fight small fish that way but how do I prevent the reel from spinning backwards? Or is that how the reel operates?<p><br /></
