I own a lot of bait caster's, some a little cheaper and some much more expensive but if I had to pick one for an enjoyable day on the water this would be it!

Great Little Reel

Awesome little reel. Super comfortable to palm and like all Shimano MGL spooled reel, It casts like a dream. I use my first one of these for light pitching and flipping with 50 lb braid and it does a great job. Plenty of drag for this application as well. This one will go on my 6'-6" medium Expride for a small squarebill/finesse reaction set up.

Paired this reel with a 6'6" Laguna Texas Wader II just for throwing 1/8-1/4oz Buggs lures and paddle tails. This is such a light setup, I can cast it accurately, and SO effortlessly, all day long.

“AWESOME”. This reel is extremely smooth and lightweight. Spooled it with 12lb test PLine Floroclear for jerk-bait fishing. I own many other curado’s and this is by far my best. I highly recommend this real for throwing light weight baits.

Smooth, easy casting reel

The last reel I bought was a Shimano Metanium XT Scorpion many years ago. This new Curado 70 MGL is way nicer and shockingly smaller than that JDM model! The micromodule gearing is oh so smooth! The handles are longer than I expected for such a small, palmable reel which I really appreciate. I've reeled in bass between 3 and 5lbs regularly with it including carp over 8lbs and had read more no issues with the drag and light line and leader. I liked it so much I ordered a second reel! The all matte black color has a tactical look that looks cool, too.

This reel is geared towards freshwater, but you should be fine fishing saltwater with it. Make sure to rinse your reel after use in saltwater and oil it every once in awhile.
