The second time used it on the boat! No drag! Send back to the Virginia factory for service! E mail , phone calls no reply! After couple days kelp calling, finally got service! It’s been a month for replace one of the part. Need to pay for under warranty labor . Life time warranty? Only two months since purchased! Second time used failed!! Bad quality! Bad service!

Fantastic reel

I've been going back and forth with ordering another reel from other manufactures or trying Seigler. I love this reel and it comes with a lifetime warrentee.
For the price which is about $100 less than the other brands I was looking at, this reel provides more drag and is super smoooth. You can feel it's a well build reel as soon as you pick it up.
I'm getting ready to read more order another one.

Really impressive

As soon as you pop the cover off the box, you going to notice the care and quality put into this reel.

Light, smooth, strong, and gorgeous. This baby is American made, and comes with a lifetime warranty.

I spooled it with 300 yd of 40 lb Pandora x8 braid by nomad, and it could have taken some more. It's paired with a 6'8 heavy tsunami slow pitch rod, for read more an inshore jigging setup that's less than 2 lb. If you're thinking about doing the same, I suggest getting the optional low profile reel seat, at the club sits at somewhat of an angle.

Really impressed so far, looking forward to a full season with it in 2021.

Great Reel

Great light weight reel. I wasn’t sure about about using a lever drag for bottom fishing here in the North East. I have used it on a few trips now and love it. This reel has plenty of line capacity for my needs and has more drag capability then I will ever need.

Great little reel but could be better

I have caught some big fish on this little reel and Seigler could have a top notch reel with some minor refinements. First the clicker needs to be moved, it is too easy to engage the clicker when palming the side of the reel. Got annoying real fast so I removed the clinker ring on the reel spool. Upon reassembly the drag cam was all over the place either too much drag or too little read more no matter what I tried. So I compared the drag cam to that of a Avet Okuma and Shimano small lever drag reels and the grind on the brass cam was rough compared to the other reels. I took out my roto tool and changed the initial angle and polished the drag cam and all my problems were solved. Even with the initial issues I still love the reel perfect size to slow pitch jig all day long.

Tiny tank

This is a very light, 11 oz, reel that is tons of capacity, very smooth and very strong. It's easy to palm and it has more than enough drag for inshore or some offshore use. I've been using the SGs for several years and have been very happy with them. I am looking forward to using these for jigging this spring and summer. I have mine paired to a UFO Big fish.

R303L SGN lever drag reel

Not yet tested so 4 stars. Appears durable. I've been in the charter industry, found Accurate reels to be extremely durable over long-term use and abuse. This appears to be a close copy of an Accurate, not quite as refined and not quite the huge price tag.

Butter

They've taken the reel they started with (one that I've caught hundreds of fish with) and put it in a smaller form factor. It fits my hand perfectly for casting and thumbing the spool. I also love the crank and handle it'll handle big fish, plus it has 30#s drag and it's light. This thing's butter!

Highly Recommend, this is the biggest small game you'll ever need. Outstanding, it excels... extremely well made, solid feeling, very smooth drag, very lightweight. Been using this reel for fluke fishing, but its definitely capable of so much more. Really love this reel

I spent some time researching reels before buying the SGN for a kayak beyond-the-breakers rig. These reels have a fan club led by one of the more famous offshore kayak fishers on the Texas coast. One UK You-tuber has a series on this reel, and many large game fish have been reported around the world. He noted then his reported 330 yard 30-lb braid capacity compressed and made read more more room on the spool with use. I spooled my hand-level-wind under load, a 15-lb weight on top of a phone book, beginning with a mono base wrap to bite the spool spindle. I was able to get a bit over 400 yds Seaguar 30-lb braid, with 12 yds fluoro leader, and plenty of working room on the spool. Incredible reel for the price and about the same weight as a freshwater baitcaster.

How do these reels compare to an Accurate Valiant BV300 as far as drag "smoothness"? I've watched and read almost every Seigler review I could find and I see everyone gushing over the form factor/ dimensions and max drag poundage but I can't find anyone t

Bernie 5 years ago

The drag is smooth and not as clunky as some other lever drag reels, people gush about them because they are in fact great reels.

how do these reels compare too avet reels and I be using the reel for fluke, sea bass and small stripers

Bernie 6 years ago

This Seigler reel is comparable to a Avet sxj 5.3 single speed both reels are narrow, light and a great choice for either inshore or backbay fishing.

How much 65lb braid could I fit on this reel

Paul Olah 3 years ago

You'll get about 177 yards of 65lb power pro on this reel. This is a super rough estimate and I wouldn't recommend it as this reel is designed to hold a high capacity of 30lb line for smaller shallow water species. If you are looking for a reel from Seigl

Those the reel come with a reel seat ? How does it attach the a rod ?

Billy - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

This reel has a reel seat as well as a clamp

Asked by Song 3 years ago

Is it castable ?

Alex T 3 years ago

You can certainly cast with this reel if you are experienced with casting conventional style reels. This reel does not have an spool braking mechanism like that of the Avets MC(magic cast)

Depending on what you would like for line capacity, either of the Small Games should do the trick.

The inches per crank is 38'' for the Seigler SGN conventional reel.

The max drag for the reel is 30 lbs and the line capacity shown is for braided line.
