Works as good as it looks - The machining on this reel is beautiful and build tough.

Great USA made reel

We needed a strong reel with good capacity for trolling. I picked up two of these and they have performed very well. The lever drag work great and it has tons of torque. It's all aluminum but it isn't that heavy. I am very happy with all of my Seigler reels and these two LGNs have performed very well this summer.

Tough little reel can hold huge lingcod from beating me in the rocks with this drag!

Strong smooth reel

The lgn is smaller than it looks yet it did not hiccup not once handling huge mutton snappers in the dry tortugas. Extremely light and powerful gear ratio is fast and more drag than you will use.

Seigler R202L LGN Large Game Narrow Left - Getting Better - MUCH Better

This is my second Seigler reel. The first was an all silver SG from back when the name was Release. I had a hard time deciding to give this brand another shot because my first reel came with so many machining marks I would have sent it back if I did not need it immediately for a fishing trip. Other than the finish my only other issue was the amount of pressure required to turn the read more clicker on was so light it often got engaged by accidentally touching it. I really hate the sound of any clicking noise on a jigging reel. Other than the finish and the clicker switch I have to admit it performed flawlessly for me on the trip. I have seen a few videos that brag on how good the finish is on the newly made Seigler reels is so I decided I would give a left hand LGN a try. I'm glad I gave the brand another shot. It's finished rather nicely with very few machining marks visible at all and the free spool on the reel is nothing less than spectacular. Although it has a secondary anti-reverse dog system the reel is whisper quite on retrieve so I'm VERY happy with that. Any reel I would use for jigging that makes a clicking sound on retrieve is an absolute deal breaker for me. Any reel I can't get in left hand retrieve is also a deal breaker. The R202L LGN has more drag capability than you would ever need on a reel this size. I appreciate the extra long handle since it's a single speed reel I'll want all the leverage I can get and the knobs on current models are very comfortable. It is also very light weight for it's size.
I feel like I could jig for hours without getting tired with it.

Best Conventional Reel Ive Ever Had

I bought this back when it was a release reel. I found out about it and had to travel about an hour away in a small shop to go get it. I found it and it was their only one. I bought it. The biggest fish I have caught with it so far was a 30lb Jack crevalle, it handled it like it was nothing. I highly recommend this stellar reel.

First off I'm a shimano guy to the core but I kept reading reviews and articles about these reels . Did some digging and homework even called them when I called the owners father picked up and took the time and answered all of my questions. I purchased my reel to go on a recent trip to the keys paired it to a shimano trevala 50/100lb In my opinion it's a perfect reel and rod combo read more it jigged -trolled - casted and the best part of all beat the hell out of some fish and it's all made in the USA & a lifetime warranty!!!

GREAT Reel !!!

Is the cranking power comparable to a 2 speed in low gear, such as a Penn 40N Torque?

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 1 year ago

<font><span>Hi Rod, The Seigler LGN Large Game Narrow Conventional Lever Drag Reels are single speed and have a 6:1 Gear Ratio and would be similar to the High Speed Gear ratio of 5.1:1 compared to the Penn TRQ40NLD2 Torque Lever Drag 2 Speed Reels. Pleas

What capacity for 40 or 50 lb mono?

Donald 6 years ago

You will be able to fit approximately 450 yds of 40 lb mono and 400 yds of 50 lb mono.

Asked by Dan 6 years ago

would you consider this reel to be suitable for jigging AJ's or tuna to about 75#'s?

Devon 6 years ago

Given the max drag and line capacity I would say the LGN would work for that application so long as you plan on using a braided line or braid with topshot. If you want to use all monofilament line you will likely need a bigger reel.
