$4$ a good bet

RICHARD

I have two now, a 50 and a 60. In terms of smooth casting, smooth bail return and firm reeling they are very good. I have no problems with them but I do recommend putting the correct size line on them. If you buy good quality line, these work flawlessly.

Quantum Cabo is a workhorse

This is my 4th Cabo reel, in a range of sizes from use for inshore flounder, deeper wrecks, and Surf. They are amazing tools for fighting any species On the mid- Atlantic coast. Drag is strong AND smooth. Do yourself a favor and try one!

Cabo 60 is a great large profile reel

This Quantum Cabo 60 is a fantastic large profile reel... I'm using it in the surf, but it would be just as great on an offshore plug chucker. Have used 50's inshore for years, and decided to try a bigger Cabo for surf fishing and love it! Great drag, smooth as silk!!!

Excellent reel!!!

The Cabo 50 is an excellent reel. Good line capacity, very very smooth drag, and lots of torque with the slower 5.3:1 retrieve, and light weight. No problem reeling in big stripers and gator blues. I just wish this thing came with a power knob!!!

Best Reel Ever

These reels are great, affordable and very durable especially when used around salt waters. I use these on my flounder rods and insure the CSP40 is a great all around reel.

Less Expensive Reels are a Better Investment

Although the fit and finish are good, and the heft feels more substantial, as long as you take care of it a less expensive Daiwa would have been a better choice.

Solid reel

But it’s heavier and about the same price as a Shimano Stradic which is a much better 4000 and 5000 class reel.

Great

I have the Cabo 50 and I love it. Strong smooth drag system. A little on the heavy side but very durable frame and bail. My drag clicker did brake after catching a bunch of monster sheepshead but the customer service was great and they sent me 2 clickers for free and was an easy fix. I can definitely say i would recommend this reel.

Casting an 80 lb topshot will be difficult given the size of the knot at your leader connection. I would recommend downsizing the weight of the topshot if you would be comfortable doing so. Twelve foot rods in that price range that have larger guides ar

I'm looking at either a Cabo 50 or 60 for plugging the surf for stripers and blues. I already have an 11ft Daiwa Emcast MH spinning rod and looking to possibly upgrade or just get another rod. Any suggestions on size, power and tip? Maybe a St. Croix, Tic

Donald 6 years ago

The St Croix MOjo 10'6'' Surf rod would be a good rod to look at. The action Moderate and Medium power would be great using it for striped bass and blues while plugging.

Parts would have to be ordered directly from Quantum for the Cabo.

Asked by Bryan Page 3 years ago

I have 4 oti 300 g spinning rods 6’ looking to pair with Cabo 80’s are these a good choice trying to set up for tuna popping

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

The 80 would be a decent choice, but the 6' rods may be too small to pop effectively for tuna. Typically with popping rods, you'll want a minimum 7'6" rod.
