$4$ a good bet
I have two now, a 50 and a 60. In terms of smooth casting, smooth bail return and firm reeling they are very good. I have no problems with them but I do recommend putting the correct size line on them. If you buy good quality line, these work flawlessly.
Quantum Cabo is a workhorse
This is my 4th Cabo reel, in a range of sizes from use for inshore flounder, deeper wrecks, and Surf. They are amazing tools for fighting any species On the mid- Atlantic coast. Drag is strong AND smooth. Do yourself a favor and try one!
Cabo 60 is a great large profile reel
This Quantum Cabo 60 is a fantastic large profile reel... I'm using it in the surf, but it would be just as great on an offshore plug chucker. Have used 50's inshore for years, and decided to try a bigger Cabo for surf fishing and love it! Great drag, smooth as silk!!!
Excellent reel!!!
The Cabo 50 is an excellent reel. Good line capacity, very very smooth drag, and lots of torque with the slower 5.3:1 retrieve, and light weight. No problem reeling in big stripers and gator blues. I just wish this thing came with a power knob!!!
80
this is one of my favorite reels. it is very smooth and the knob is a comfortable shape. casting and retrieve it smooth.
reel is very light for its size and drag
Best Reel Ever
These reels are great, affordable and very durable especially when used around salt waters. I use these on my flounder rods and insure the CSP40 is a great all around reel.
Less Expensive Reels are a Better Investment
Although the fit and finish are good, and the heft feels more substantial, as long as you take care of it a less expensive Daiwa would have been a better choice.
Solid reel
But its heavier and about the same price as a Shimano Stradic which is a much better 4000 and 5000 class reel.
Great
handles great and has a nice deep spool
Great reel
I have the Cabo 50 and I love it. Strong smooth drag system. A little on the heavy side but very durable frame and bail. My drag clicker did brake after catching a bunch of monster sheepshead but the customer service was great and they sent me 2 clickers for free and was an easy fix. I can definitely say i would recommend this reel.
The best line up
I have the 40 size up through the 80 now and all of these reels are awesome. Very smooth, great line capacity and drag, and never miss a beat. Very please with quantum on this set of reels.
Drag!!!
The drag on the cabo is incredibly smooth, its never skipped on me yet. I have a few cabos that gets used for tuna and tarpon quite frequently. The cabo the best $200 ive ever spent, its a shame its always overlooked when people are shopping for a quality reel
All Quantum Cabo reels are interchangeable between left and right hand retrieve.

Ben, I would recommend Going with a 10,000 size Saragosa and a 6'0" Heavy Travala Jigging Rod.
Eric, I would recommend you take a look at the star Paraflex Boat rod 7' ft medium STA-0304.
Hello John. The PTSE model is the newer replacement for the older PTSD which is no longer made. The only difference is in the newer models, there has been slight improvements made to the gearing for better reliability. The only other differences are pur
This reel can take a splash but I would not go swimming with it.
The body of the reels is the same size. The different part is the spool, and the rotor are both bigger with the 80 size.
The 40 is much lighter and appearance wise the 60 has a larger spool.
The size 40 fits 230 yards of 40 lb braid, 50 fits 225 yards of 50 lb braid, 60 fits 300 yards of the 65 lb braid, 80 fits 300 yards of 80 lb braid, 100 fits 480 yards of 65 lb braid and the 120 fits 500 yards of 65 lb braid.
Casting an 80 lb topshot will be difficult given the size of the knot at your leader connection. I would recommend downsizing the weight of the topshot if you would be comfortable doing so. Twelve foot rods in that price range that have larger guides ar
Stainless Steel
The St Croix MOjo 10'6'' Surf rod would be a good rod to look at. The action Moderate and Medium power would be great using it for striped bass and blues while plugging.
The Quantum Cabo reels are made in China.
Parts would have to be ordered directly from Quantum for the Cabo.
The 80 would be a decent choice, but the 6' rods may be too small to pop effectively for tuna. Typically with popping rods, you'll want a minimum 7'6" rod.
The Cabo reels are made in China.
I would suggest a Shimano Grappler Jigging rod
Hi Tony, The Quantum Cabo PTsE Spinning Reels have interchangeable handles that can be left or right hand retrieve. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
Hello Michael,
You can either use a strip of electrical tap so that the first couple of layers of braid bites into it or apply a little bit of mono backing. Either method can be used.

Hi Joseph, The weight difference between the Quantum Cabo 40 and 50 is about 0.4 oz with the main difference being just the spool size of the reels. The line capacity for the 40 Cabo with 50lbs is 210yds roughly and 250yds on the 50. Please le
