A Trustworthy Workhorse
I bought the 2500 size to put on my freshwater finesse rig. I spooled it with 20 lb braid to an 8 lb fluorocarbon leader and it has been great for drop shots, wacky rigs, and small jerkbaits. It has a strong drag and is made out of high-quality components. I plan to get a 5500 for my inshore set up.
Reliable
Smooth drag and flawless performance, even better than the previous generation
WOW
This is a GRAND SLAM reel at this price point. The 4500 is a great multi-purpose size, enough to hoist double-digit fluke from the Shrews and handle hefty stripers off of Block Island. You can take it and jig bait fish with sabiki and immediately swap rigs for blues, trout, stripers, flounder. Typical bullet-proof Penn quality, Tackle Direct has outstanding retail level support… read more as far as shipping, questions, etc...so don't hesitate to buy here!
Has been bulletproof
I am loving this reel for the back bays, I have caught fluke, bluefish, weakfish, sea robins, and even a giant snub nosed ray on this reel. The drag is great and it casts great when throwing metal at those toothy blue fish when you see the birds working the bait. Over all a great addition to the arsenal.
Excellent for Large Striper
My wife bought me this for Christmas and I've caught several stripers on the surf with the 6500. Drag ran perfectly and reel is proving to be a tank!
Penn Spinfisher
Awesome reels, a great reel to use at the jetties for Big Spot tails. I will also be using them for Tarpon soon. Overall a great reel that I paired with an Ugly Stick rod.
Excellent Reel
I used this to pull in a few stripers this May on a 9' medium action rod. All were over 44". The fish were really hard on the reel. Ripped tons of line off through 15-20 minute fights on the surf. In the end we got everyone of them on the beach!
Nice and Smooth
I'm really enjoying this reel on my 9' St. Croix Mojo Surf and it's been great over the past 3 seasons. I've landed some nice slot sized Stripers here in the North East and it has handled larger fish well. This is my first bailless reel and it's working well for me. Can't beat the price point when comparing to other bailless reel brands!
Good:)))))))))))
i really lke so much
Great Reel for Surf-Casting Lures
I bought this reel on the recommendation of an experienced surf-caster who uses it to throw lures for stripers and blues. I load it with 30-lb. PowerPro and have taken it out on a few trips. It's paired with a 9' Tica Dolphin Surf, I also purchased here. Though I've not caught fish yet, the reel is very high quality for a good price and is well suited to the task.
The best ever
Strong a life time of fishing with this one
Super solid reel
Wonderful reel. Has stood up to summers jigging for rockfish and winters catching jacks, bonnetheads etc
Slammer 9500
i got a 9500 to go target bluefin tuna.
i used 100lb power pro maxquatto, it took 500 yards of the stuf with dacron backing
the last model had the slammer drag in it, i wish this one did too, but the ht100 had no problems pulling in a rec size tuna. the handle is also comfortable
Best baitrunner
Best bait runner style reel love it
Solid product
Casting is awesome and with large line capacity I target large fish with it.
This pairing would work well for a wide variety of fishing applications.
<span>Hi Austin, I would recommend a 9ft Medium action rod based on your criteria. However, since we have no Penn rods currently in stock, I would recommend a St. Croix SES90MMF2 Seage Surf Spinning Rod. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-ses
<span>Hi Corey, Based on your fishing application, I would recommend a St. Croix SES90MMF2 Seage Surf Spinning Rod. Specifically model: SES90MMF2; TD Code: SCR-2186. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-ses90mmf2-seage-surf-spinning-rod.html</a
<span>Hi James, Based on the fish you are targeting I would recommend a Penn Spinfisher VI 5500 size. Model: SSVI5500; TD Code: PEN-1677. This would match great with a Ugly Stick Tiger Elite Spinning Rod. Specifically Model: USTE1440S701; TD Code: SHA-038
<span>Hi Jay, Depending on your jigging application and what your fishing for, I would recommend either a Penn Battalion II Slow Pitch Spinning Rod. Model: BATSPJII450S68MH; TackleDirect Code: PEN-1915. or a St. Croix Mojo Jig Spinning Rod. Model: MJJS66M
<span>According to Penn, The handle for the PENN Spinfisher VI 5500 (SSVI5500) will NOT fit the SSVI4500 size reel. Penn does have an alternative handle that will fit reel (SSVI4500). The Slammer III 3500 (SLAIII3500) Spinning reel handle, part number 14
Frank,<p>A good rod to go with the Penn Spinfisher VI 4500 spinning reel would be the St.Croix Mojo Inshore spinning rod JIS70MHM. This would be a good all around combo for inshore and back bay types of fishing. Please let us know if there is anything
Frank,<p>The Penn Battalion II series of spinning rods will pair nicely with the Penn Spinfisher VI series of spinning reels. For example: Penn SSVI4500 spinning reel and the Penn BATINII1017S70 will be a good medium action combo. Please let us know i
Steve,<p>The 3500 & 4500 Spinfisher are the same reel with the 4500 having the slightly larger spool. The 2500 is a smaller body reel and weighs about 1.5oz lighter. For your 7ft rod, I would recommend the 4500 has you will have more line capacity fro
SP,<p><br /></p><p>The Penn Spinfisher VI Spinning Reels are manufactured in China.</p>
I would recommend the 5500.
This could work for popping for Tuna.Â
The 4500BLS is the bail-less version of this reel.
<span>Hi Craig, While the Penn Conflict II offer a light body and smooth design, I would recommend a Penn Spinfisher VI series reel. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/penn-spinfisher-vi-spinning-reels.html</a><span> Theres many different sizes and th
A 4500 size will pair well.Â

Hello Stevie, The 2500 is going to be smaller then the 3500, Unfortunately I do not have any 2500 in stock to get you a picture of the difference. Â

Depending on what you are fishing for and how, any size between 2500-4500 will balance well with the 7ft Carbon Shield MH.Â
Yes, this reel will pair well.Â
Sorry we do not carry a bailess conversion kit.
It is in stock and would pair up great with the
Yes, this reel will pair well with that rod.
I would use a 5500 from the boat and from the sure depending on the size of rod i would look between the 5500-7500. If you are fishing bait from shore I would recommend using one with a Live Liner feature.
10500 would be closest in size but not available in a long cast. Largest long cast is the 7500lc
The slammer HS can withstand the abuse from surf fishing. Both the gearbox and the drag are sealed in the reel, while it can handle splash and spray the reel is not fully sealed.Â
Both would work with the 12 foot heavy mojo surf but the 8500ll would match up very well.Â
The 2500 would be the only size that would be able to do salt and fresh the 2500 would be a stretch but would work for bothÂ
Which model spinfisher vi?
The 10'6 St.Croix Mojo Surf would be a great choice of rod to pair with that spinfisherÂ
I would go with one of the Trevala rods.
You'll want the model <span style="font-weight:700;color:rgb(52,52,52);font-family:Arial;background-color:rgb(236,237,239);">SSVI8500LL</span>
Brass main gear models are <span style="font-size:12px;">6500-10500</span>
The 2500LL features a live liner feature for live bait.Â
I would go with the Spinfisher 4500
That would balance out to be a great combo.
It comes with the egg shaped handle

Currently there is no bailess kit for this reel.
You'll most likely need a stronger reel for BFT and GT such as the Shimano Saragosa 10000
Until the reel becomes available we are unable to get a measurement on the spool, as soon as it becomes available in stock please contact us.
Either the 7' 2'' mh Terez or the 7' 2'' H Terez.
The 4500 spinfisher would pair up well with the 7 foot mh teramar
The reels should be available mid September. Shipping would be $68.13US Postal Service Priority Mail International Delivery Estimate (IN-STOCK Items Only): plus duties and taxes the cost of two reels would be $359.90
<span>Hi Bigmig, we recommend going with the Penn Spinfisher in the 6500LC model for your needs. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!</span>
Hello Chris, <p><br /></p><p>As far as balancing the spinfisher with the St.Croix Tidemaster the 4500 is the way to go. You do sacrifice some line capacity as well as drag going with the smaller reel but you'll get a better overall pairing with the 4500
<span>Hi Frank, The Penn Spinfisher VI series is considered Water Resistant due to these being Semi Sealed and not Fully Sealed. These are made to handle occasional splashing but not dunking. If fishing heavily you would simply gently rinse your reel off
<span>Hi Eric, According to Penn, All Penn Spinfisher VI Long Cast models feature a manual bail trip. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines. </span>
