I bought two of these in December ; they stay on the boat never touch the water: rods are perfect! Reels have been problematic from day one!! Drags are sticky !! And by sticky I mean they lock down and usually at the worst possible time! So bad that a guest kept unscrewing the drag to the point the reel cap fell in the water: reel was still stuck

Have not been able to truly battle test it as of yet- but the fit and finish, feel weight and balance is very nice- seems like a quality rod and reel at a very affordable price- My wife and I love the color scheme and I might add it matches the boat nicely- one of my favorite features is the rubber grp around reel-spool so that line does not spin on spool.

i got this combo for my wife. She loves it. she has landed a few small sharks "sub 4 foot ", a decent sized ray,and a number of smaller fish

Penn doesn't list the lure rating on this particular rod and it is out of stock to check. As soon as it becomes available we'll be able to get a lure rating on it.

Yes this reel has an interchangeable retrieve so you can switch it from a left or right retrieve.
