3000 Combo is TOUGH!

ChuckD

Gosh, I really like this combo. Was initially using it for heavy fresh, but got reassigned to medium to light saltwater action. Can cast light lures and both the rod and reel hold up to saltwater abuse. These pursuit reels in my opinion are a great compromise between strength and function and durability..

Great Combo

In my opinion this is the best combo for someone not familiar with saltwater fishing, but wants to start. Penn never disappoints.

Bought this to send to Florida for a vacation , now use the rod and reel interchangeably for other set ups back on Long Island , Penn always makes solid gear

I haven't had a chance to use these combos yet, but they feel as solid and reliable as other Penn combos I have. I don't expect any surprises.

Good Starter Outfit

I bought (2) of these outfits for my college-age nephews to use for occasional trips to Florida. They are just getting into fishing, so I didn't want to spend a fortune on high-quality outfits until I was reasonably certain that they will remain interested in the sport.

I've run into some issues with the guides coming apart on the low-end Penn outfits in recent years, read more so only time will tell if these will hold up.

But barring any future issues with the guides, these outfits should do the job just fine.

Good bang for the buck

A bit heavy and bulky for power output. But does the job. Caught very large batray on these in San Diego Bay. Reels smoked, but got oversized fish in.

Great rod reel combo for the price

I have used it about 10 times with 30 pound sulfur mono on it and it casts 50-70 yards easy. Best combo for such a cheap price

Wanted a rod and reel that wouldn't kill me in the pocket and could let anybody (even newbie fisherman) used. It has taken a pretty good beaten so far but is holding up like a champ. Cant go wrong with this combo

Picked this Combo up for my Nephew in Northern Florida. He's just starting out surf/pier fishing.
He was very happy.

I got this combo for my 7 year old, works great, simple for him to use, and it's holding up well I would buy another one.
