Upgraded from previous model
A great upgrade from the Fierce II
Feels much like the Penn Battle and at a better price
Best reel for the money
this reel will handle just about anything you can throw at it. you really cant beat it for the price, this is true of all the penn rees and rods i would say
New reel
So far it has been a very good reel. So far it operates smoothly.
Great Panfish Reel
Smooth with a sturdy Bail and Bailspring.
Good reel
Great reel for the price. No real complaints yet. My only reason I wouldnt purchase again is because I also purchased a few Pursuit 3 models and they are literally the exact same except the red coloring for roughly 40% the price. The red does look sharp though ?
Quality reel
Purchased a 6500 from a local shop for surf fishing. Used it pretty hard for over a year and its held up great. I do take care not to bang it around and I rinse it after use but it's been dunked and dropped in the sand, and has no problems dragging in some 80+lb rays and other smaller surf fish. I do recommend (for any reel) a deep cleaning every once in a while or if you suspect…

sand entering the gearbox.
The only minor issue I've come across is the bail sometimes snaps shut on a hard cast but you can prevent that. Once you open the bail and before you cast, spin the spool just until it wants to stop against the auto-bail-close mechanism. This prevents momentum from building up before u flick a hard cast.
Anyways this is a solid reel at this price point. If properly maintained I dont see why I couldn't get an easy 10+ years out of it.
Fierce III 1000
I purchased the Fierce III 1000 to use with a 5'-6" ultra light rod and to primarily fish from a kayak. It is light and smooth and the updated drag system is a great improvement over the Fierce II. This reel seems to be high quality, especially for the price. I highly recommend this reel for freshwater use, but don't know how it would hold up in salt.
Vary good
vary good , strong and light
Great reel for the price
Have not run into any issues thus far
Minor upgrade from 2
Upgraded drag (now similar to battle 2) and a sealed pinion bearing. Minor but good upgrades
