4K and 6K 7' Combos

Great pier rod and reel combos. The rods are not the expensive part of this combo, but regardless they hold up and give you a perfect match for the reel. The rods tend to rate close to the next step up in the Ugly Stik. A medium rod on the Penn Fierce II 7' combo would be similar in action and rating to a 7' MH ugly stik GX2.

Great fishing pole for offshore fishing

This pole works great for reeling in larger fish when offshore.

Nice cheap introductory reel by a good company

As long as your not taking this out to battle with giant blues or stripers.

Only one negative

Rod is extremely strong and casts nice the only problem is with graphite it doesnt have that bend to give but it normally doesnt need it. Reel is extremely smooth and no problems so far.

Heck of a combo

This combo is for the person that wants some serious power for a budget price. I use this rod for drifting chunk bait for shark and occasionally I'll use it for bottom fishing. Great drag pressure

Great combo

This combo gives you the power to do many things whether it's pullin groupers off the bottom or fighting sailfish. The reel is so smooth it rivals the 300-400 dollar reels of the same size. Rod is well made and reel is perfectly balanced on it. Only downside is you won't want to use anything else the next time you go fishin.

Hi , can the 6k with the 9 ft med/hev model catch a big tarpon? or the 5000 model ?

Brian 4 years ago

We would recommend going with the 6000 or even larger for big tarpon.

Asked by Scott Mcginty 5 years ago

Is the fierce 2 rod designated for only saltwater or can it also be used as a freshwater rod?

John Vaughan 5 years ago

Designed for Saltwater but if needed could be used for Fresh as long as it's not too heavy.

Hey there . . . . . When it comes to sizing up the correct reel size, what would be a good size for fishing larger striped bass and bluefish? I have been encountering striped bass in the 30lb+ range more frequently in recent years and don't want to under-

Ricky 5 years ago

Depending on the size of the rod, but I would recommend a 5000-8000 size reel.
