Is a great little reel, have caught some pretty big fish with this. The amount of drag is the best thing about this reel. Only own Penn reels for a reason.

Only used once so far and really pleased with the reel, it made short work of a nice Cobia and several Amberjacks. I anticipate enjoying this reel a lot.

Are the Lever Drag 2-speed models suitable to cast baits up to 30 yds. from a boat?

Depends on the rod, the amount of weight you are trying to cast, and experience casting a conventional reel, but the reel is certainly capable.

What is the drag curve on a 40NLD once you pass strike? I noticed on the Okuma metlaoid once you pass strike, the drag nearly button downs immediately.  Does the 40 2 speed have a larger drag curve? Also I'm thinking of pairing the Penn Fathom 40 2 speed
