Super reel

Tank

This little reel is a tank. I have always loved the durability of penns, and this clash II is no different. Light, durable, and tons of fighting power.

Fast Retrieve Reel

I don't know any other reel on the market that picks up line nearly as fast as the HS Clash. No spinning reels in the fresh water market either. This reel is an all around quality reel that fills a niche when you need to move a lure quickly. Don't dunk it in the salt and you'll be fine with basic rinse & clean. Thank you Tackle Direct and Penn!

Great

Have and will continue to use the Clash II. Great for walleye, small mouth and anything in-between. Father of three boys have eight identical setups each with this reel. smooth and effective for any fisher of men or women.

I've fished a 4000 hard for over 2 years with no issues whatsoever. The reel is very smooth with great line lay, no wind knot issues at all. Penn, you have a winner here!

Penn with Refinement!

I bought the 4k HS spontaneously and have no regrets. I already had a Stradic FL 4k and a Spinfisher IV 5500 LC and this reel feels like the middle of the road between the two. While not quite as smooth as a Stradic, it is sturdier feeling. Likewise, with the Spinfisher it is not as tanky but much more refined feeling...and lighter. The line lay is excellent and it cast wonderfully. read more The only hickup I have experienced is that when I spooled up with 300 yards of 20lb. braid as the capacity says, I get a wind-knot early on but after I cut about 25/30 yards it does not come back. It maybe just a the line I'm using or I might need to add/subtract a spacer. Happened twice but I am changing my line to 30 lb. to see if that alleviates the issue. Could be it just needs slightly less line. Not a big issue as there is still plenty of capacity even if I had to cut more. This is now my go-to Jetti reel. Best Penn product I own and would highly recommend if you want something refined but tough feeling. Cheers!

Fast indeed

Awesome reel for casting metals at Spanish, blues, and false albacore. Great speed and one of the smoothest penn reels I've ever used, not clunky at all.

Penn Clash 2 - I love this reel!

Paired a 1000 series with a St. Croix Premier rod.... what a sweet little setup!
It's good looks are what caught my eye, but it casts great and it's smooth on the retrieve. Brass pinion and aluminum main gear, and the HT100 drag is really nice and smooth. I am a fan of Penn's CNC gears. Caught trout and crappie on the first trip, and the reel was flawless. I love this reel, read more and I would absolutely buy another!

Excellent Reel

Got the 3000 HS. Beautiful and great reel. Have this reel and rhe Back Bay 3000 both with 15 lb braid to use for surf fishing and CA Aquaduct stripers. Both are excellent reels but the BB is much smotheer, as a matter of fact a lot smoother than most of my reels and high end reels but I will get the Clash 2 again no problem.

Great Reel!

Penn Clash 2 - CLAII2000

The 2000 series Clash 2 is only the second Penn reel I have ever owned (Shimano Boy). I purchased a 3000 when the Clash 2 had just been released. These reels are monsters/tanks. I got them both for wade fishing. 3000 salt- 2000 fresh. They are amazingly SMOOTH! They cast great and they hold lots for line. I love'em!!! IMHO the clash 2 and Stradic are the BEST 200.00 reels made.

Asked by Dixon E Allen (DJ Allen) 3 years ago

Besides cosmetics, and I did see the original Clash has a l8 faster retrieve, what other differences are there in the Clas and ClashII? THX

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

The main differences are the Clash II has a hydrophobic line roller bearing, instant anti-reverse, and the new Clutch Armor System, which helps keep important components in the reel better protected against the elements.

Asked by Eric A Davis 4 years ago

Is the Clash II series sealed as good as the Spinfisher VI series?

While the Clash series is a very well designed water resistant reel it, does not have the IPX5 seals in it like the spinfisher does
