Excellent for the Beach

Bought this for a 10 ft ugly stik. Awesome combo that cast a long way. I could see this reel doing well on jetties as well. Super smooth, fast. Not a huge fan of newer Penns; they seem heavy and expensive, BIG FAN of this one! Reminds me of my dads Penns n the 80s. Very happy.

This is the best reel that I've ever owned. I use it to surf fish and to fish for stripers below a local dam in very swift current and is handles both well. I would also like to that TackleDirect.com for their fast shipping and excellent customer service.

Got the 2500 for inshore and it's a beast. Little heavy but solid and don't flex like other brands.

Asked by Eric Fennell 3 years ago

What is the difference in the DX models over the regular Battle III model?

Bernie De Graaf 3 years ago

The biggest difference is that Brass main gears are in every size of the Penn Battle III DX as opposed to the Battle III which only has the brass gearing in the 6k-10k models. The stronger gearing makes for a more robust and powerful reel.
