I have 2 Azores.. Incredibly smooth operation... The reels work 4 days a week and are nearly indestructible..

I own 2 4000s and one 6500. I've caught thousands of striped bass on my 40s as well as flounder big bluefish and weakfish. I also run a guide service and these are the reels I set my customers up with. My 1st has been around for 3 seasons and going strong. I used to be into van staals and this will catch the same fish no problem. The reals do close on the cast and I've remove read more the bail from my 6500 because I bought that one to try and pop tuna. Also sometimes if you don't pay attention the line will wrap around the top of the spool at the start of the retrieve. But other than those two minor problems the reals are solid and last and can't be beat in that price point by any reel I've seen on the market there isn't even a close comparison in that price point these reels are a solid as my van Staal 150s and shimano stellas

Okuma is a great brand and a great reel. The drag is strong and smooth casts and works great.

Bail me out

After casting you need to manually close the bail. I’ve never had a reel that didn’t close itself by turning the handle. Almost wondering if something is missing. Other than the bail issue everything is good

Looks like a great inshore reel for the lower Chesapeake Bay area.

I purchased the 65 for party boat fishing in Southern California and the real has not let me down!!! I have caught Dorado, Yellowtail, Rockfish, Sand Bass, Calico Bass on this reel. It's stopping power is amazing and for the price it hard to find a better reel. I will be adding 2 more of these to the rotation.

I have used this reel for jigging and popping, for around 2 years now and absolutely nothing wrong with it. Great amount of drag, torque and rigidity for winching in those big fish. Best priced reel I have ever used!

Great reel

This reel is built to withstand a beating, yet affordable.

Hi Darren, We do not sell spare spools for the Okuma Blue Azores Spinning reel. Here is a contact number for inquiry on purchasing a spare spool ( 1800-GO OKUMA ). Also, there is no information regarding whether you can use a z-65 spool on the z-600

What size rod should i pair okuma blue azores 6000h with ???

Billy - TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

It completely depends on what type of fishing you're doing.

Surf fishing I would pair it with a 11' medium/medium heavy.

Regular inshore/pier fishing I would pair it with a 7-7'6" medium heavy rod
