Monster!

Casts, feels, and looks amazing, performance is incredible! Far greater than a Trinidad! Better drag, gears and construction. The anodizing is very solid and won't get scratched easy allowing corrosion.
Casts irons 100+yrds, feels amazing on retrieve.

Trinidad killer

The Trinidad is really nice. The Tesoro is much more rigid, powerful, and has more quality components. 6061 T6 aluminum Anodized frame, spool, sideplate. Tsi lubed bearings allowing insane freespool. There booth really nice the Tesoro is just Priced way better than the Trini and it is worth every penny.

Been transitioning back to star drags after a love affair with lever drags. Put 2 hard seasons on these as well as competitors from brand D and A. Northern California fair so- sturgeon, salmon, albacore and anything else. These reels are bullet proof. Where I feel these beat the competition is the size of the drive gear, even with the high speed these straight grind

Stoked on this purchase I'm used to the star drag system on all my reels since my first Squirter Jr. back in the day.

High end reel at a great price

Recently took this reel out on whole day trip and it performed flawlessly. I spooled my Tesoro 12S with 300 yards of 50lbs power pro braid and top it off with 100 yards of Izorline XXX Super Co-Polymer and then attached a 8 foot leader of fluorocarbon. The free spool is incredibly fast and smooth allowing me to cast out father and get my jig out faster. I used this reel for bottom read more fishing and casting irons and jigs. Line retrieval is awesome and fast. Drag was more that enough to help me land 3 large Bonitas. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a top quality star drag reel.

Does the disengagement lock with a turn of the handle or manually? For casting purposes.

Brendan - TackleDirect Customer Service 2 years ago

Hi Sami, The Okuma TSR-12S Tesoro Star Drag Reel is currently sold out and unavailable at this time. I would recommend the Accurate TX-400X-BLB Tern Twin Star Drag Reel. Specifically Model: TX-400X-BLB; TD Code: ACU-0654. https://www.tackl

What size reel would be best for throwing surface irons on a 9ft rod for YT and Tuna?

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

We do not recommend this reel because of capacity and drag. Check out the Seigler Small Game Conventional reels.

Asked by Nick 5 years ago

Is there a reason the Tesoro 5s has an extra oversized package shipping charge? Any way that the charge can be removed? Thank you.

Rebecca 5 years ago

Our apologize that is a mistake on our end. We will have that fixed asap. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Compare to the talica size 12 what’s equivalent

Rebecca 6 years ago

The Okuma TSR-12S is equivalent in size to the Talica 12.

Asked by Bruce Chapin 6 years ago

I have seen the TSR5s listed at 11.3 grams and braid capacity 400/50. Your listing is 16.6 and 465/50. Which is correct? Thanks. Bruce

Rebecca 6 years ago

Okuma does not list braided line capacity for the TSR-5S, the number we provide is an approximation. The reel weighs 6.6 oz.

Asked by Chris 6 years ago

What is the weight of these reels?

Donald 6 years ago

The Okuma TSR-10S weighs 19 oz. and the Okuma TSR-12S weighs 19.2 oz.

Asked by Treve 6 years ago

Could you please provide a size comparison of these reels vs the Diawa saltist BG series. I currently own the Saltist BG stard drag 35H and i am interested in the new Tesoro. Thank you for any help.

Donald 6 years ago

A good size comparison would be both 10 and 12 size Tesoro reels being in between the 30 and 35 size Saltists.
