Great reel for speed jigging amber jack, tuna, king mackerel, etc... in the gulf

I love this reel and the fact that with the right line and rod you can tackle the big pelagic fish in the gulf. It is easy to use and the lever drag allows for more or less drag with a simple thumb adjustment. I have caught Amberjack, Shark, Tuna, King mackerel, barracuda, and many more on multiple trips to the gulf. I would suggest a strike drag scale to know where you want to read more be before you go out. Great reel for the money.

Excellent Reel. Very impressed

Purchased two as a trial run. My goal was an all-around reel that can handle anything from trolling for king mackerel to dropping live baits for small-medium grouper/snapper to jigging knife jigs for amberjack. After two trips I can say that these reels will do all of the above. They hold exactly 300yd of 80lb suffix performance braid- overkill and I’ll probably go with 65lb in read more the future but may stick with 80. Paired with a boat rod, one works great for light trolling. The drag is smooth, the gears seem powerful and solid. The other, paired with a heavy jigging rod easily handled 40-50lb amberjack and 20lb+ reef fish. I will be purchasing more and recommend that you give the 10cs a try. The larger models are also solid as I have used the 50 paired with a bent butt for trolling and very large AJ/grouper. Solid reel for a low price.

I have had a Solterra for a few years and love it. Bought two more for guests on my boat. It is light weight enough to be comfortable for long trips and has power to get big fish to the boat.

Works great

bought 2 for cod/haddock/pollock fishing. took them out for a 12 hr marathon fishing trip. no issues, much easier/smoother to reel in then the old Penn reels we had been using.

Great purchase for intended use

Smooth and easy to handle, used for east and west coast bottom fishing. Lever drag is right on. Great ratio is perfect for bottom fishing. I have found no negatives for this reel.

Nice power for the size

I had intended to buy this for snapper and lighter fishing, which it handles with ease. The nice surprise was how easily it handled grouper. Nice size to fish all day and handles most fish of West Central Florida easily.

The reel seems to be very good quality for its price. It is a bit heavy though.
