Still catching fish

Dain

Bought this over a year ago for something light that could still hold line for the unexpected bull. Working great to this day and it is mostly used for throwing jigs in the surf. I always wash my gear off but no other special treatment. Another underrated okuma product.

A great fishing reel for inshore fishing

Had the RTX 40s for 3 years, mostly beach and bay fishing, largest fish a 30 inch striper from the beach. Plug and jig fishing. Just bought a 2nd one as gift for my son. after seeing him get wind knots and more wind knots on a more expensive reel. I have not gotten a wind knot on the RTX 40 s in 3 years. I bought this from Tackle Direct which arrived in days in a well package box read more containing the reel in a box. Definitely would buy again from Tackle Direct.

Excellent value. Beautifully made. Super light weight. Looks very cool too. Bought it to pair with a travel rod to take around Florida, Bahamas and other trips. Feels like a much more expensive reel.

Great reel

I needed a size 40 spinning reel for my new M/L inshore rod and trust Okuma products so it seemed like a good fit. This proved to be a good purchase as the rod and reel are well balanced. I haven't fished with it yet but will be going after some snook and trout next month in Florida.

Super smoth and good free spin

I have used it for three days down in the Sanibel area. I have casted in the surf and fished off of docks. It has been great

Nice for the price

Worked out well, the reel is light and easy to carry around. Have not caught the big one, but I'm confident it could handle a 20lbs striper in the surf

Solid Reel

The BTX-40 is lightweight has a smooth drag and is perfect for targeting inshore species like redfish and snook. For the price you will be hard pressed to find a better reel. I have two BTX-30's and just added two BTX-40's; I will be adding more soon!

For the price Okuma is hard to be and right up there with Penn

These reels are smooth and great looking and rival most on the market comparative with price. If i were trying to fish on a budget, this is where i go! I do wish the drag was heavier. I caught my first channel cat ( about 10lbs)in the Hudson river on an Okuma while kayak fishing and it was a bit hard to get in. I am used to using penn spinners for bait wand whatnot but these are read more hard to beat for the price.
