This is a reliable, smooth, no-nonsense reel. The matte black paint job may not be as flashy as some of the competition's sleek and shiny exteriors, but its casts and retrieves as smooth as any. At a price point of a c-note (cheap compared to some baitcasters!), this option is tough to beat.

By far the best casting and the smoothest reel I have ever owned, and I have owned a lot of different makes models. I have bought four of the SS1SA models. AWESOME REEL!

smoothest reel i own, and solid drag.
i have a 7.5:1 i use for a frog/flip reel with 65 lb braid and it gets them out of cover quick.
