Not to be confused with the Lew Childre reels of yesteryear, but still a quality product that is smooth, and performs. 300 size is sweet!

... This is a real nice reel!!! :) For the type of Fresh Water river and creek fishing I do... It has good spool capacity for mono or braid!! It has silkeeee smooth mechanics and great fit and finish!! It's a winner for me!!

I bought this because the reel and the grip look awesome. I had heard a lot of positive things about the mach line of reels and Lew's in general. I was not disappointed. This reel is smooth, winds evenly, has a textured spool so you can wind straight braid onto it without a mono backing although I opted for the backing. Drag is smooth.
