The Lews American Hero Baitcasting Combos come equipped with a Lews 5 premium double shielded stainless ball bearing Speed Spool baitcast reel with Magnetic Control System cast control. The reels have a 1 piece lightweight graphite composite frame and sideplates. The spools are machine forged alumin...um and anodized blue. Their main gear and crankshaft are high-strength solid brass. They have a palming sideplate that can be quickly released and removed for easy spool access. A durable Rulon drag system provides up to 10 pounds of drag power. The rods in the combos are premium 1 piece IM6 graphite blanks equipped with stainless steel guide and inserts. The reel seat is skeletal and has a cushioned hood. These rods also feature EVA split grip handles that are lightweight and slip resistant. Lews patented "No Foul" hook keeper never interferes with casts and retrieves.

Never purchased items online before, this was a first. I was nervous about shipment damages and the ordering process. Everything went great. Delivery made 3 days after purchase. Great throwing reel and rod very well worth the money!!!!

Beautiful! was on backorder for two weeks received it on the third week. Haven't had a chance to use it but really excited. Came in excellent condition the tube it came in was bent and ripped halfway around. But the rod survived the trip. As for the bait caster no odd sounds everything's moves smooth. Silverwood lake here I come!!

I have used this combo on three tournaments and it has preformed flawlessly. Just be sure to adjust the clutch prior to bombing those long casts. The reel came set up completely free spooling and caused a birds nest on the first cast. One adjustment and no more problems!

This combo is excellent as an all around rod and reel for bass for the weekend angler. I could imagine some pros using this as well. I would and have recommended this outfit to other anglers.

American Hero is a great combo for the price. I compared to Abu Garcia and BPS for similar models but once I discovered that proceeds from the AH line go to Vet programs my mind was easily made. Very pleased with how it casts, reels and hauls in the 4-6 lb bass. TackleDirect had the best price on the internet and Craig from customer service was awesome helping me resolve a minor… read more damage issue.

From the combos that i looked at the 6'6'' and 7' American Hero combos do not offer a left handed retrieve reel. Thank you for considering TackleDirect for your fishing needs.
