It is just what I wanted. I have the ss 1600 reels and I've always wanted a smaller version.

Long casting reel

Small powerful reel. Smooth. Spool add to the casting distance. Great reel. Will buy again.

Hard to find a long cast reel of this size and cost

Dave

Most long cast reels are larger and more expensive. The Daiwa is a nice compromise. The 3 bearings have been sufficient for my needs. The spool does have a bit of backlash. It is also a bit heavy for a reel of this line capacity. I think it would be too heavy for a 7 ft rod. It balances well with my 9 ft surf rod which I use from a pier. The combo gives me the distance I need. I read more have caught everything from northern kingfish to blues with this reel.

Great reel!

I really like the the Daiwa Whisker SS series spinning reels. I have been using them for a long time. I have the entire series 700-2600. They hold up very well and have landed everything from trout to striped bass to calico bass. I purchased this one for my son to use on the SoCal beaches for croaker and surf halibut.

Absolutely terrible company for saltwater reels!

Had mine for a year and so did a friend (bought at the same time). Within the first month had a grinding in the ball bearings. I don't do any beach fishing at all so i assumed that i got salt inside of it and cleaned it to no avail. A week later my friend's reel started doing the same. Now both of these reels were thoroughly cleaned after each use. Luckily another friend of ours read more knew a Daiwa rep., and we got all of the internals replace for free. Upon receiving it the worked great.....for about a month again..... I went as far as to replace the "sealed" ball bearings inside with ceramic ones i bought online, which did help, but has not totally absolved the issue with their crappy bearings grinding and locking up.

Nice reel but...

I bought two of these reals 3 years ago for bass fishing. They have performed well with one exception; the bail cannot be in a position open for casting beyond a certain point or it will close during the cast. This has annoyed me to the point of replacing the reels. Other than that the reels are fine, but I would not recommend them.

20 years old and still works like band new worth every penny !!!!

I've owned 3 - 1600's and 1- 1300 SS reels for over 20 years... PS getting another 1600 to add to my collection this spring! and it will only cost $5 more than what I payed for 20 + years ago....
Other than a few bails breaking DO TO Excessive use, these reels are like a Sherman Tank (power and silence)

I average 80 + on the water and these reels stand up day after read more day
My biggest bass was a 7.13 lbs and the small 1300 handled it with easy and super smooth drag control!!!

Last season (2017) I pulled dozens of 3- 6 lbs bass of the weeds and these reels work like new even after 20+ years

I rarely come by product that lasts and works well after a few years... So 4 reels over 20 + years old and thousands of bass and they still work like they where brand new !!!!

Buy these reels, worth every penny and then some!

This is the second Davies SS1300 Fast Cadt Spinning reel I've owned. Quality manufacturing and durable for years of fishing. Great reel for trout, bass and waleye fishing with ML or UL rods. Smooth casting and positive drag system. Best Buy for the mo

Have used this reel only a few times so far so good very smooth rel back and drag hasn't had a problem with a 4 or 5 lb bass I have put in the boat. I use it mostly for finesse baits but would not hesitate to pull a 1/4 or 1/2 spinner bait with it all in all good purchase good reel and a fair price.

Solid reel

I've had the 1300 and 1600 models of this reel for close to 20 years. Used in fresh and salt water. Work horse reels that can take a beating.Had more expensive reels but keep going back to these.y favorite. Long cast great drags.
