The rod and reel together make for a decent deep drop setup that cant be beat for the price. I am very pleased with the product I received. I was trying to locate an extra pier cable for a backup and havent been successful which is the reason for the 4 star rating.

Seth,<p>The Daiwa Tanacom 1000 electric reel comes with a cable that has battery clips at one end (red/black) and a plug to connect to the reel at the other end. The reel needs to be connected to a 12V power source or marine battery (stand alone). Not
