Daiwa is a great brand. This is one of their cheapest reels but it lives up to the brand name. Very strong and well made. Amazing reel for the price, would definitely recommend to others.

ABSOLUTE BEST REEL FOR THE $$$

I am a commercial fisherman in Daytona Beach, so having reliable gear is of major importance. One evening on the beach while fishing for whiting, I threw a 8in whiting on a rig, and cast it out to see what else may be out there. About an hour later, my "Heavy" rod began to double over in the sand spike and the reel screamed. After a 30 minute battle, up and down the shoreline, read more I finally drug a 5 foot, fine tooth shark from the water. The reel, a daiwa sweepfire 5000 performed without a hitch. Drag never failed, gearing reeled as smooth as can be expected under such conditions. Once I wear this one out, I will get another, GREAT REEL!

Such a killer little reel for a killer good price. Only 10 bucks and it feels solid and sturdy. Metal parts. It reels wonderfully and casts even better! I pair it with the Shakespeare micro ultra lightl rod.

I purchased the 2000 to pair with my 7 ft rod. I've caught more fish on this setup than my other saltwater reels. This is a freshwater reel. Have not had any issues using in salt. Just rinse with freshwater after every outing. Going to purchase the 3500. Can't beat it for the price.

Good reel and fair price

Brought the Sweepfire 5000 over a year ago and I'll say it's still holding strong. Smooth drag and retrieve. For the price it's a good entry level reel

Great reel for the price

bought two for my family fishing adventure. Fluke fihing in the back bay and they did the trick. Kids had thier very own reels and will continue to use through the summer. On the forst trip even had two keeper fluke caught with the reels. Again great beginner reels for family vs renting each time we go fishing. Worked well....we shall see how they hold up to the salt water.

Robert,
Depending on what type of fishing you are going to do, the 3500-5000 size Daiwa Sweepfire spinning reel would be fine for inshore/back bay saltwater fishing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

What is the difference between the 2B and the 2B-CP?

The CP at the end of the model codes just indicate that that reel is the Clam Pack model, meaning instead of the cardboard box that these reels normally come in it is a clear plastic packaging to display the reel visibly to customers. Other than the way t

Are these for use in saltwater or not? The video says they are but the top of the page says freshwater.
