This reel does exactly what it is supposed to do. THAT is rare nowdays. The drag is smooth and the ratio is what I am looking for when fishing 50# class.

Ever since I got this reel and loaded it with braided line, I never wanna use anything else for gt fishing in Hawaii. Just picked up this reel and matched it with a 6'6'' ugly stik. Loaded her with 30lb mono and 80lb leader. Remarkably light, strong reel with a real smooth drag. Caught Kingfish on the troll, NO PROBLEM. Plan to use set up for jigging and bottom fishing as well. Quality build right out of the box. Great value for sure. Very versatile.

can 30# test braid be used with this reel?

Yes it ca. You will want to put backing on the reel though because the capacity for 30# braid will be about 900 yards on the 50, and over 1000 on the 60.
