Excellent & super smooth Reel
My first Daiwa reel. It is the smoothest reel I have ever used to date. I will get another Daiwa in future. So far has handled very well with reds, flounder & trout. Looking forward to some snook fishing. Casting is amazing distance even with light lures.
Nice reel, when it’s not broken!
Purchased two 3000 sized reels. Very smooth and balanced. One real broke twice within 12 months. The other one broke once within 12 months. Warranty service not good. Slow and unresponsive. Went back to shimano.
Still best option
i bought the 6500 reel for slow pitch jigging and have used it hard and caught many fish on it now. the reel has a very smooth drag as well as a huge line capacity unfortunately the spring holding the anti reverse slipped and was dragging on the gears making a ticking noise when reeling after a month of intense jigging the anti reverse still worked though. another problem is because… read more of the anti reverse system it is not instant like some other reels i have used causing a clunking noise in the gears when jigging, so far no more problem after i fixed the spring after the first month.
If you don't mind the weight
This reel is butter smooth, but the weight is a significant difference. I like to use this reel when I'm not going to be casting over a 5 hour trip, the couple of ounces extra on this one makes a difference. Other than that it's solid and has tons of fight power.
Good reel but heavy
this thing is heavy, and i usually fish a slammer which everyone says is the heaviest. i disagree. these do not put out the drag power of the slammer either. they are smooth and have good torque. but i really think the slammer out preforms it. the new mq model is nice as well, very smooth.
Love it!
Just bought this and paired it with a St Croix Med/Light rod... love the combo of the two- this Daiwa reel is where its at for the money!!! Thanks TackleDirect for making it easy as always
Bought the 4000 last year and the 4500 three days ago!
Im exceptionally thrilled with my Saltist 4000 and 4500. Thursday I stopped at my local bait store looking for a reel to match my 106 rod. My man showed me a couple reels that I didnt like. He asked how the Saltist 4000 held up with my Tsunami 9 Trophy II. Its a phenomenal product. Now Ive got two reels from Diawa that performed superbly.
Very satisfied
Very smooth reel, both the drag and the action of the reel
Pleased
Happy with purchase.
Built like a tank
living in south Florida I tear up a lot of reels fishing for big tarpon and alligators. only the toughest survive especially on gators.the manual bail just adds more strength in this reel. we are hard on tackle down here and diawa just made the odds better for success.
Awesome reel for offshore or surf chunking
I got the 5000 two years ago, it is a great reel for chunking clams or mackerel from the beach for stripers and blues. A bit heavy for tossing plugs and eels all night and not durable enough for consistent dunks. I have caught many 150 pound sharks on this from the beach and it handles those great. Drag is exceptional. That being said it can not be fished hard in the surf. I was… read more using the saltx as my wetsuit rock hopping reel and one night that went down so I switched to the saltist. The reel now sounds like an old penn but still performs well. I would assume a few more nights of fishing like that and the reel would lock up. This reel is a great once a trip dunker and for the money is unrivaled.
Feels Very Durable
So far so good for this reel. Like the aluminum parts much more than carbon fiber or graphite.
Great reel I have had this reel about a year and a half in that time it has been dunked about 3 times in brackish water with no problems. What really impressed me was I decided to take my kayak to the beach lost control of the kayak, kayak rolled about 3
Now I want a saltist mq
Great reel
Great reel
Daiwa got me again!
To be honest I really didn't need another reel, but I'm going on a multi-day tuna trip and wanted a backup to one of my old favorites the Original Saltist STT6500H. I thought I was going to get one of the other brands, but after looking into the new Saltist 6500 and at this price... I was sold. My problem now is keeping away from the Saltiga Spinning reels.
Yes, the 5000 should have enough drag for cobia.
This reel is an updated version. It has waterproof carbon ATD drag system and protrusion free airbail.
The Daiwa Saltist Spinning Reels are Magsealed line roller and main shaft.
The Daiwa Saltist 5000 with a St Croix AVSS96MHF2 Avid Series Surf Spinning Rod would be a better fit for pier fishing and the fish you will be targeting.
Yes, the Saltist 8000 would have sufficient drag and line capacity for blacktips.
No, the Saltist does not have an anti-reverse switch.
The reel foot on both sizes measures 2 5/8".
Fishing from a boat your going to want to go with the STIN76HFS. Fishing from a pier or the shore lines the TSAWSS-902XH would be a good option. Both can be used with the size braid your using. The overall better balance that you could get would be with t
The Saltist 4000 has 39.9 line retrieve per crank. The Saltist 5000 has 47.4 line retrieve per crank. (In inches)
4500 or 5000 would be best on that rod depending on your line capacity needs. Basically same size with a shallower spool on the 4500.
The Daiwa Saltist 6500 would make a great fit for your rod.
These reels are very well designed and have sealed ATD Carbon Drag system, these should hold up pretty well to these fish, I would recommend going up a size for the Shark fishing applications though, that increased line capacity usually comes in handy wit
The line roller and main shaft are magsealed. Yes, we are able to ship to your location. If you look on the checkout page on the website, you can find the tab where you can estimate the shipping cost. There are several different shipping options to choose
The 8000 would be big for that rod. If you want to go with the Proteus, I would go with the PRTB80HXHFS or the PRTB80XHFS, which are the 8' models. <h1 class="cyc-item-h1" style="margin-bottom:0px;font-size:23px;font-family:'Roboto Slab', Arial;line-heigh
Diawa reels usually run one size bigger then reels like shimano or Penn. I would probably go with a 3000, or 4000.
The Saltists are more durable and have the mag seal on the line roller and main shaft. Overall, they are a beefed up BG that will ultimately be more durable.
Yes this reel is a dual retrieve and can be switched to either side
Rocket,<p>The Daiwa Saltist does not come with an extra / spare round handle. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. </p>
<span>Hi Bob, I would recommend Daiwa Saltist Model: SALTIST6500; TackleDirect Code: DAI-2348. </span><a>https://www.tackledirect.com/daiwa-saltist6500-saltist-spinning-reel.html.</a><span> This will pair well with a 12ft Surf rod going for bull reds. Ple

Hello Dave, the 3500 saltist can handle striped bass.
You can buy a extra spool from Daiwa and the spools are interchangable between the 3500 and the 4000
Size for size the Daiwa BG and the Daiwa Saltist weight wise are exactly the same. I would recommend the Saltist 6500, it's not going to be light but line capacity and a strong drag it does have.
The Saltist 4500-5000 will fit the game type J
The 7 ft 30-50 line weight Penn Rampage Boat Rods would be a good all around spinning trolling rod
China
The 8000 has 33lbs or roughly 15kg of drag.
Saltist 6500 is a great size for jigging and popping. Depends on the rod but that size is generally great and not too big!
