Poised to dominate in any variety of saltwater environments the Daiwa Saltist MQ Spinning Reels utilize some of Daiwas most advanced design features to provide ultimately dependable power and performance. Built around a heavy duty aluminum frame for maximum durability the Saltist MQ implements Daiwa...s Monocoque Body (MQ) design for even more power in a more compact frame. A feature brought down from Daiwas flagship level of spinning reels Monocoque Body refers to the use of a one-piece frame and reel body. A single piece body allows for exceptional strength and rigidity improved water resistance with the absence of screws and significant weight reduction. Perhaps best of all the MQ frame design provides better spatial efficiency and allows for a larger gear to fit inside of the reel adding power and longevity to the gear set. Anglers can expect the same effortless rotation and fluid operation they are used to from Daiwa reels in part thanks to the ultra-lightweight Zaion Air Rotor perfect for all day casting and retrieving. With a Magsealed main shaft for exceptional durability the Saltist MQ can take a splash without skipping a beat making it a great option for use from either the beach or the boat. The Saltist MQ is available in a full range of sizes to fit any application meaning anglers can select the ideal reel to battle any fish whether its from the surf along the coast or out in the deep.Features:Monocoque (MQ) Aluminum BodyZaion Air RotorAir BailMagsealed Main ShaftTough DigiGearWaterproof Advanced Tournament Drag (ATD)Aluminum Round Handle Knob

Solid reel and quality construction. smooth for the price.
I love this reel, very durable and holds up great to the elements. perfect for inshore big tarpon fishing
Bestbreel
Very smooth and light
Daiwa jigging reel
Excelente carrete para jigs! (Excellent reel for jigs!)
Best reel I ever bought
This reel is so light and smooth and plenty of power
Super Smooth
Purchased two of these in a 4000 and 6000, and I have to say these reels are incredibly smooth casting and reeling. I use the 4000 for closer inshore fishing for trout and redfish, and the 6000 for throwing spoons and plugs off of piers and the surf. Overall great reels!
Awesome Reel!
Smooth as a knife cutting through butter.
Favorite new reel
Paired the 5000 with 300yrds of 20lb braid on an Okuma Rockaway 12 1-4oz rod and this is now my favorite pompano setup. Great reel for the price and I have a 5000 Certate to compare it too. I would choose the Saltist for an all round reel. Can easily handle pomps to bull reds.
As good as saltist and now lighter
this is a big upgrade. the saltist is a really good reel, but it is heavy. the mq solves that issue and build on an already strong platform. very smooth retrieve with tons of torque. the only downside is that the handle knob is too smooth and i find myself slipping off of it even with gloves on when they are wet
Strong little beast
Super strong and light. Great all around reel. I mainly use it for striped bass but also bring it when I travel. In a world of boring reels, this one looks pretty cool.
Wow!!
Wow is all i can say, this reel is not only lightweight, beautiful, and has some serious drag power, its sealed it the most important areas, cant wait to buy another one!!!!
Great Reel Saltist MQ 6000D
Great reel very smooth and light. Very fast shipping and reliable from tackle direct. Wanted this reel for a few months but it was out of stock, finally it came back in stock very happy to own one. Get it when you still can before its all gone. Will test the reel out very soon. Probably will get another one =).
Great reel
I love this reel, it is not necessarily the best at anything, but it is very good at everything. It's powerful enough to horse a medium sized tarpon, but also small enough that you can still fish for smaller inshore fish as well. very durable and holds up great to the elements.
Great product
Very satisfied with this reel. Will purchase another soon.
Super smoothe , light , and strong
2 trips out at the surfside jetty and has performed spectacularly with speckled trout and a few reds including a new pb 37 Bull red. The drag is super strong and made quick work on that bull. The reel performs similar to my shimano twinpower but a bit cheaper on price. The ball handle is a nice touch and works well for spooning. Up close the special composite material on the rotor… read more and monoque looks like cheap plastic similar to the bg line up. Could have made that part look higher end with some nice paint like shimano does . Overall excellent reel for now until it need servicing a few years from now .
Daiwa for the win!
Daiwa this year has left me in awe with the quality of product the produce. I tried the Saltist MQ for a few weeks and its my favorite saltwater reel currently. I tested it at the Outer Banks, Murrells Inlets, Frying Pan Tower and much more places here in NC. I had the previous version of the Saltist and it still fights like a champ!

2500 is the best fit, but if you plan on using 20 lb braid or higher, I would consider the 3000 for its increased line cap.Â
