Smooth real as in casting and drag. The handle is nonslip when your hands are wet. Love this reel.perfectly cup in my hands.

Very smooth and easy for a newbie to baitcasters

I am a life long spinning reel guy and I can't cast conventional reels to save my life. But I took a leap of faith and bought this reel a few weeks ago for jigging and some light casting. After a few hours of practice I found, with the cast control between 6 and 7 that I could cast a 2 oz lure pretty far without a major birds nest. I still need practice but I am confident enough read more that if I need to I can use this to sight cast. Aside from the castability, this reel is very smooth and light, right around 11 oz I believe. I also love the power handle. My time with this reel has only been casting off my dock for practice and I haven't caught anything with it. However I've seen videos of guys hauling in good sized game fish with this model.

The Goldy Locks of inshore reels

The 300 size Lexa is the perfect size reel for inshore fishing with the line capacity and drag to catch every thing from spotted sea trout to the largest red drums. I think it can put the hurt on Mack's. Jack's, and smaller tarpon. I have been inshore and near shore fishing with Dawa Lexas since they first came out and retired the Revos and Curados. No brag but I have cast 60 plus read more yards with the Lexa 300 on a 7.5 rod and 2 oz lead weight. Tje magnetic cast control is 2nd to none. The WN 300HSL is best improved version of the Lexa yet. Not the first Lexas needed any improvement but do like the black color and handle

Sticky Bail

I purchased the Daiwa LEXA-WN300H Lexa 300 WN Baitcasting Reel as a gift for myself. I had debated between this reel and the Shimano Tranx 300. I choose the Daiwa due to the magnetic force control. without having to resort to removing the side plate to adjust the magnets(Which you have to do on the Shimano Tranx 300). After spooling it with line, I was adjusting the spool tension read more to my specific lure weight. Several times, 7 out 20 attempts, the bail remained open when attempting to retrieve line. I took the new real down to the river, and casted about 30 times. Fortunately the bail did not fail. Hopefully the previous failures were a fluke, although one other customer commented that they had this same problem. Will update my review after a few days of use. As for now, I will recommend this reel.

High Performance, Questionable Reliability

1st use out in Baja Mexico and killed a bunch of Cabrilla, mid grade Yellowtail, Dorado and small tuna with ease. Only issue is the cast button is already sticking and needs to be sent back to Daiwa for warranty fix. Let's hope it holds up once I get it back.
