It’s light, fits in the palm of your hand really nice. The handle feels great. Love the Matte finish. I use it for swim baits and halibut fishing with stripers.

Great musky reel

I bought this reel from a local tackle shop in Pa for musky fishing. When I first used it, it made a loud screech when it casted. I took it home and cleaned the spool and on the inside of the side plate. It then stopped making the noise, but it does need cleaning so it doesn't make that noise. I do it every month and it is fine. other than that it is great! it casts far and smooth read more after cleaning. it reels smooth and also has good drag. I can cast any size lure up to 10 ounces and it casts far. would definitely recommend if you don't want to spend 300 on a tranx.

Super light weight!

What rod would you recommend with the 300?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

A good match for that reel would be the 7' M power Shimano Teramar XX Northeast Casting Rod.

https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-txnc70m-teramar-xx-northeast-casting-rod.html

Is this reel similar to the type hd reel or is it better then it or worse?

Sydney 4 years ago

The Daiwa Lexa HD is the big brother to the Lexa type WN. It is the next step up in terms of reel class. You can expect a top of the line product with the HD, whereas the WN is a quality reel for someone looking to spend less.

Asked by Rich 4 years ago

Is there a 300 HL left hand retrieve in the lower gear ratio available? I see the 400 HL but don't see this option in the 300 size.

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

Unfortunately we only have the 400 HL with the 6.3:1 left hand. We do not have a 6.3:1 left handed model in the 300 size.

Asked by Vinny 4 years ago

Would the 300 be to heavy for a 7'6" tsunami airwave coastal 8-17# 1/4-3/4oz? Would it be better on a tsunami classic 7ft 10-20# mh 1/2-1oz? It would be for jigging for fluke and striped bass in a kayak. I bought both rods form you guys and I bounce a qua

Tyler Bennett 4 years ago

Hello, The 300 would be a little big for the airwave coastal but will fit nice on the classic.

Asked by Roger 5 years ago

Have you attempted to spool up the 300 hsp model at your workshop? I bought one and the guys said he could only get 120 yds of 50lbs j braid, but the website says 180 yds of 55 lbs

Rebecca Redington 5 years ago

Daiwa line rating goes by their Samurai Braided Line which is thinner than the J-Braid. If it says 180 yards of 55 its would be more like 40 rather than 55 due to the different diameters.

Asked by Tyler Doherty 5 years ago

Will the 300 size match a 7ft shimano teramar north east, the medium heavy, 1-4oz

Ricky 5 years ago

Yes that reel size would pair well with that rod.

Asked by eric 6 years ago

Plan on using this reel on the boat in long island, fishing for fluke, sea bass and porgies. Is St Croix TIC70MHF match

Donald 6 years ago

The TIC70MHF rod would be a solid match pairing it with Daiwa Lexa WN reels fishing for Fluke, Seabass and Porgies. The rod will provide a good amount of flex and still has the backbone you need to leverage some big fluke into the boat.

Asked by Frank 6 years ago

Does this reel have a synchronized level wind?

Donald 6 years ago

According to Daiwa the Daiwa Lexa WN Baitcasting Reels have a synchronized level wind.
