Nice, affordable reel

So far so good. Light for a 6000 size setup. Have taken this reel everywhere that holds salt in Florida. Bridges, intracostal waterways, and inlets. Not a saltwater reel, so a spray down after a session is what it gets. Time will tell how it will hold up to the saltwater.

Absolutely love this reel

I bought the Legalis 4000 real and paired it with a 7ft fast Heaven Tsunami Rod. This set up was my primary rod for casting lures in the surf. Drag was more than enough to handle bull reds. Absolutely no complaints with the real but wish I had chosen the 5000, but that’s just a personal preference. I will be buying another one in the future.

Daiwa Quality

The Legalis is basically a Fuego without Mag Seal, and the Fuego is quite possibly the best spinning reel at its price point. If you fish only freshwater or mostly freshwater you don't need Mag Seal so save some bucks and get the Legalis.

Nice and smooth

As always the daiwa lower end reels for freshwater do not dissapoint. Light, snooth and 22 lb of max drag.

Best budget reel of the year!

can i use this reel in salt water?

Ryan McCluskey 4 years ago

Yes it can be. I would just be sure to wash it of with freshwater after use like any other reel in saltwater.

Asked by Elmo 4 years ago

Is this reel Magsealed and can it handle saltwater fishing?

Devon Hicken 4 years ago

No, the Legalis is not Magsealed. Daiwa's most affordable magsealed reel is the Fuego LT. Even though it is not magsealed, the Legalis is suitable for lighter inshore saltwater applications, however you will want to take extra care to not accidentally spl
