Good Combo
This is a pretty nice combo. I put 50lb Jbraid on it. Used it crab snaring and the rod holds up pretty good. I have the Penn Battle 3 5000 and I prefer the Bg over it. The little difference in weight is not noticeable.
Best combo
An all around great combo. From reds, flounder, and trout. Best combo for the money.
Casting dream
I ordered this for surf fishing mostly and some boat fishing. Got the Diawa BG4500 spooled up with 50 lb braid, (I think it held about 280 yards) It cast smooth and even with the 9 ft rod you can sling it on out there. Reeling it in is equally smooth and it pulls like a winch. The 9 ft 2 piece broken down fits perfectly across the back seat headrest of my 150 crew cab so it… read more can stay in the truck pretty much 24/7. Unfortunately only got to test it out on some spanish and blues so far but I'm headed back soon.
Great reel, cheap rod with this 6500 combo
went snapper fishing and literally snapped the rod on my first keeper (16" Red Snapper). The reel is awesome but the action on the rod and the build quality is poor.
Great value
This combo spooled with 10 lb. test line was the tool of choice for my fall surf fishing trip.
Landed drum up to 30 inches and had a blast with this light and comfortable combo.
Bg 5000
I'm really impressed with this combo I have been using it for a few months and love it for surf fishing
Great reel and great rod
The BGs are great reels for the price and for the price with a rod you can't beat it.
Awesome product
I usually travel to Mazatlan Mexico and this combo its amazing for every type of fishing ... I originally bought this one for my son but I use this combo at rivers lakes mangroves at the beach I have a 12 ft rod but my son he uses this one and he loves it its amazing and makes the job Done ... the reel by itself is amazing my son doesnt have any trouble reeling the fish and… read more I have the same reel bg 8000 for the surf fishing and its amazing BG hands down its one of the few reels budget/performance ever made this guy can compete with the big reels that cost 3 times more than this one
Good budget combo
If youre in between budget and performance this is your combo. The BG is simply a reliable tank thatll withstand jetty use. Although I would not recommend reeling it under water in the surf its still a fantastic boat combo or jetty combo
Good product
Thanks
Great buy
Great combo reel is super smooth and rod is very lite i have the 5000 soon i will get the 8000 very satisfied with the Daiwa product BG is the way to go
Great combo
Got this a few weeks ago, it's a nice setup and for the price you cant beat it. Very happy with my purchase from tackle direct
Awesome setup
Love the setup will be using it in the bay primarily for sharks, very sturdy and holds a ton of braid.

If you are looking at using this combo for Yellowtail fishing I would suggest going with the 7'HFS model rod with the 6500 size BG.<p>Typically I would suggest a conventional style reel for this kind of fishing. But it would be fun on a spinning set up as
The 7' models are all 1 piece rods.
If you are fishing in the surf off the beach, I would recommend a 12ft Surf casting rod. If Fishing from a boat or pier I would recommend a 7-8ft rod rated up to 40lb braid, with a medium, medium heavy, or heavy action with a fast tip. Â
