Great for tuna

I have owned this reel for several seasons now. I am more than satisfied with its performance. Great when paired with my Star jigging rod when butterfly jigging for tuna over the canyons off the east coast.

Favorite Surf Reel

I've had this reel for about a year and it's my favorite in my arsenal. Its has a good balance of strength and lightweight. I accidentally dropped in on the sand and water a few times but it still feels brand new.

Fantastic reel for the price. Good quality and you can buy 2 for the price of a Penn or shimano equivalent.

Great reel for the price

Overall very happy with the reel. I bought it for land based shark fishing and it brought in a 9.5ft sand tiger. Occasionally I add a little extra drag with my thumb so more drag would be nice but for the pice I cant complain. Reel is small enough to cast (though not great) and has enough line capacity to kayack out baits.

Great offshore reel

No problem handling 35 lb yellow fin tuna. Light reel with great drag. Quality Avet reel and my 3rd one purchased.

Beats Big Bluefins

I have a pair of Avet HXW single speeds. Great smooth drag. 30lb at full is more than you will ever need with this kind of line capacity. Beat the 120lb BFT in 30mins even with that old bag of dirt working the rod.

Was always a Penn guy but i switched over to an Avet after trying a friend of mines new one. These reels have great drag power behind them and will catch fish bigger than what they are rated for.

I love this reel for surf fishing!

I've caught a bunch of bull reds and sandbar sharks on this reel. Stops them like a champ!

I troll 4 LX’s and an HXW down the shoot off my 25’ Mako for inshore tuna, wahoo, dolphin and striped bass off the coast of southern NJ. I was a bit reluctant going with this setup because I was afraid of being outgunned. Boy was I wrong!

I’m jigging and chunking with 40 and 30 lb leader so I really have all the drag I need for that line class. I’ve got hundreds read more and hundreds of yards of 65 pound braid and I’m not anchoring unless I absolutely have no choice so I’ve got plenty of line.

The HXW gives me well over 800 yards of braid/80 pound topshot so it fits well way, way back for bluefin. I’ve had no problem whatsoever with any of my Avets and I work them pretty hard. I keep them clean and they still feel like brand new.

I’ll be adding a couple of MX G2’s in the near future for dedicated jigging sticks and I’ve no reservations fishing these for the same species. Plenty of line, adequate drag and if and when I get the big one that I just can’t turn, I’ll back down on him.

Tackle Direct always manages to have the best deals and their customer service is top notch. Showroom’s a pretty awesome place to visit after you pick up the tax return, too!

worked like a good fish reel should.. no issues, line dropped 120' down quickly without bird nesting and then when we switched up to troll line went out good pull meat. A good all around real with a bunch of line capacity.
