Bought these reels to pair with Lamiglas 7040c rods for offshore bottom/wreck fishing. Honestly I haven't used them yet but they seem like they will pair well and get the job done.

Everything I want in a reel. I'm more of a bottom fisherman, fishing deep water through New England along with fall Blackfishing. Excellent for both applications!!!

I got this for a slow pitch rod and so far I really like it. It has plenty of drag for everything I've hooked into so far.

Very good reel for the price.

I purchased this reel to replace a diawa saltist that I use for live bait trolling for kings. The diawa keep breaking springs for the clicker so I wanted something a little more robust. For the price, this is a great reel so far. Not as smooth as a Shimano Talica but also not nearly as expensive.

This is my second set of FX-500, these reels have the smoothest drag. The clicker is nice and loud when a fish hits the live bait. Have them paired with 7'6'', 20-40 fast action rods. This makes for a great king mackerel set up.

Great reel! I took it on a overnight tuna trip out of San Diego and had a blast. Although I used the 1 speed 4:1 gear ratio because of the slow pitch jigs used aka butterfly etc. it didn't require a high speed yoyo reel so it worked just fine. Most of my bites were on the downfall anyhow.

Always thought the doulble drag reels were ok, but prefered Avet
