The best jigging reel ever, light, fast, powerful. I have caught YFT over #100 on this reel with little effort. The longer handle gives more leverage, thus no need for a 2 speed. Hands down my number 1 go to reel to jig.

My go to reel for Slow Pitch Jigging.

I love this reel. Drag is so smooth and the torque is amazing. The handle makes a noticeable difference in leverage when reeling in a bigger fish. I spooled mine up with PE 1.7(20lb) Tasline braid and switch between several Temple Reef rods depending on the target and depths I am fishing.

I have this reel spooled with 50lb power pro depth hunter on a ghost hunter 250 rod. It works great for both speed vertical jigging as well as slow pitch jigging for Yellowfin Tuna.

Small and powerful

My first accurate reel. It is small and light. you will not get tired jigging all day. I also have a Shimano Ocea Jigger 2000 but it is heavy. I just need to get used to the lever drag. I like star drag better for jigging.

I have heard a lot of good things about this reel. Once I received it, I was surprised how light it is. It holds plenty of line, I set it up with 20 pound PE. Good line retrieval, plenty of smooth drag, great, large handle. Lever drag makes exact drag easy. Without the clicker, you have to be careful when in free spool.

What would be a good solid rod option for this reel with 30lbs test line and a max weight jigs of 400grams.
Something that you can put some pressure if a big fish gets hooked. Thank you

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

A great rod choice for that reel would be the Shimano Grappler Type Slow J jigging rod, M or MH. Another great option would be Ocean Tackle International Pitch Black Slow Pitch jigging rod, 400g. This series of rods comes in both acid-wrapped (spiral-wrap

Is the two speed version really 2.3oz lighter than the single speed version?
Specs on this page show 15.7oz for two speed and 18oz for single.

Alex T 3 years ago

I believe our web team got the weights mixed up, the 2speed reels should be slightly heavier @18oz
