Van Staal purposely engineered the strength into each reel and then machined the weight out by using a unique pentagon shape and machining the drag cartridge into the frame. The sealed drag is uniquely supported by two radial bearings top and bottom with an additional anti-reverse bearing resulting in a reel that is incredibly rigid.
