Beast
This rod has handled monster fish and performed as advertised . Will be adding another to the boat.
Nice rod so far...
The rod came in with a slightly bent guide. It's just the last guide which I got it fixed by applying pressure, easy fix. My boss noticed it while I'm unpacking. The box that it came with was damaged, luckily the rod evaded catastrophic damage, that would be very devastating for me because I've been waiting on this rod for more than 3 weeks.
The rod looks great, a bit…

beefy but I love it. I paired it with a monstrous Penn Slammer III 9500 reel which made it heavy. Great rig for LBSF. I haven't really used it yet, I'm still waiting on the lures I ordered. I'll do a separate review once I get them and go out for offshore fishing.
Pairing with my VM 275 for heavy spinning jigging rod.
Light weight for it's size and power. Have it paired with a VM 275 for all my heavy jigging needs. Has big guides which are nice if a big leader knot has to pass through them for some reason.
VJS70-325 Spinning Jig rod
Excellent rod. Long enough to be able to cast jigs. But not so long that the rod will beat you up when fighting fish. If you need to cast jigs for pelagics like tuna, THIS is the rod to have. Components are top notch. Rod is wrapped in a nice subdued tone that will fit into any collection you already have. Very nice parabolic bend, with alot of backbone. Very hard to find… read more this combination in other off the shelf rods. Buy it. You will NOT be disappointed.
VJS70-500...AWESONE
I am gonna begin by saying that VanStaal is making a HUGE marketing mistake by not marketing their rods more. The vjs jigging rods in both spinning & conventional can't be beat! They are durable, look good, & kill fish. I have bought rods three times the price of the vjs70-500 rod and still it is the best for big tuna w a spinning reel. Cheers to vanstaal rods.
Light and strong
Light and strong but look cheap.
Perfect match for the VM275
Combined this rod with the Van Staal VM275 for a great setup. This rod and reel combo is built for battle.
Really nice rod
Extremely well made like everything else from Van Staal!
Super light for super strong
Great price for this spec but look cheap
Bullet proof rod.
Fantastic rod. light weight but strong
It's a Van Staal, of course it's great!
I haven't got to put it to use yet but it is light weight and feels strong as hell. I have two paired with VM275 I plan on using for shark fishing from boat.
Great rod
It's a monster, able to handle anything. Powerful yet lite and good balance.
Very good jig rod
I jig for big fish and the Van Staal jig rod is great. i catch tuna with it and i use a Daiwa Saltiga with it.
Van Staal Made a Great Rod
I was on the edge of pairing my large saltwater spinning reel with this rod or a custom. After much review and reading, I decided to try a Van Staal rod. VS's reels are tried and tested while their rods are not nearly as publicized. I will say this much, I am not disappointed. The rod has a lot of strength and fits a large reel very well. It also allows for good castability… read more aside from the jigging aspect.
Van Staal
Tough Rod, Great boat rod with all the backbone you'll need.
The 325 grams would be considered a heavy fast action, while the 500 gram would be considered a extra heavy
We do not have the 6ft model on hand.
Hi Alberto, Unfortunately the Van Staal Jigging Rods are discontinued. We recommend looking at the Ocean Tackle International Fathom Blade Jigging Rods as a recommendation ( <a href="https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-fat
The 9500 should fit pretty well on that rod. If you are fishing for blacktip or brown sharks this should be ok, but if you're going for anything more than that we would recommend a heavier rod.
Hello Hyung. The Van Staal Spinning Jig Rods are not available in a conventional rod, only in spinning.
The VJS58-325 weighs 12.8oz and the VJS70-500 weighs 15.2oz.
