Guides cut braid

Tom

Was using a 6’6 h while light trolling for Spanish and kings. It cut 50lb power pro v2 twice when reeling a fish in not much pressure but both times cut on the second to last guide. Not happy as it is brand new.

Already snapped 2 of the 3

Bought 3 of these rods for my jigging setup last year. I paired them up with Penn fathom 30s and really liked the setup. Rods have good flex to the tip and pretty good backbone to them but I’ve had a couple 30-40lb jacks snap two of these rods, I feel like they should be able to handle the 20lb of drag, will not be buying these again.

Great rod perfect for small inshore tuna.

I've used this tsunami jigging rod flatlining live baits for Yellowtail and small Bluefin Tuna on the pacific coast, and reef fishing on the gulf of Mexico. The spinning rod is incredible powerful and a great value for the cost.

Powerhouse rod for pulling in the big ones. Good lightweight rod with tons of power and sensitivity.

Use these for trolling Mojos for striped Bass. Long Island New York. Pared with tsunami forged 10 and 12. Plenty of backbone and limber enough to cast. Loads of fish in the 30# class and a few 46-48" no disappointment with these rods. A+++++

Landed a Trophy, with the Trophy

Brought a 5ft Amberjack in today with the Medium Heavy 6’ Conventional rod.

I paired the Rod with my Fathom 40LD2 that has 60lb braid along with a 50lb fluoro leader on it.

Even though this rod was originally purchased to Jig with, I tied a Nomad DTX 200 to troll, and hooked up to a beautiful AJ.

I was very pleased with the rod having a slightly read more firmer feel than my Nomad Design Slow Pitch 20-50 rod, it is awesome to have a rod with so much action but good backbone! Thanks Tsunami!

Nice!

This rod is powerful. Handles sharks, snapper and grouper no problem. Holds a 6oz sinker easy, very responsive lots of play when you hook big fish. Ultra sensitive can feel everything on this rod. Feels the slightest bite from fluke and bait stealers. Highly recommend this rod to those who want a great rod for a budget price.

Asked by John 6 years ago

Can I used tstbc-j701xh rod for tuna fishing?

Devon 6 years ago

The tstbc-j701xh will likely be able to handle smaller tuna, but there are other jigging rods that I would feel more confident in when up against larger tunas, such as the Shimano Trevala or St. Croix Mojo Jig.

Asked by Jack 6 years ago

Hi I'm the 2pc Spinning models could you please specify the individual piece sizes?

Donald 6 years ago

Each rod is an even 50/50 split. For the 6' model would be 36'' each piece and the 6'6'' model would be 39'' each piece.

Asked by albin 5 years ago

would this rod pair well with Shimano Sedona 6000 or 8000 reel for boat jigging?

chris jones 5 years ago

it would pair well with both

Asked by John 4 years ago

Will a torium 14 pair well with this rod?

Sydney 4 years ago

A Shimano Torium 14 will pair great with this rod.

Asked by Sean 4 years ago

which rod would pair up well with a Daiwa BG5000 for live bait/chunking for stripers and blues. Is it also able to toss bigger plugs?

Sydney 4 years ago

The 6'6" Heavy will be great for live baiting and chunking as well as jigging. Going with a 6'6" will give you better casting distance than the 6'0" when throwing bigger plugs.

Asked by Matthew 3 years ago

Which of these rods in the casting version would be best suited for grouper up to 20 lbs?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

I would go with the 6' XH model.

Asked by Matthew 3 years ago

Is there any advantage to this rod in the 6’ XH model of this rod opposed to the are rods boat rod 7 heavy. In another question I had asked the tsunami jigging in the 6’ XH size was recommended over the star rod

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

The Tsunami rod can be used effectively for a variety of situations as opposed to the Star rod. The Trophy Jigging series is great for not only jigging, but also bottom fishing, inshore trolling, and even some livelining scenarios.

Asked by Mathew 3 years ago

Is this a quality rod that will last? The price point has me unsure. I’d be using the 6’ or 7’ foot XH casting for grouper to 20lbs

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Yes, these are quality rods that are made to last. I, personally have the XH model that I've had for 5+ years.

Asked by Jack 3 years ago

Asked by Ed 3 years ago

Is a Penn Slammer III 7500 too big for this rod? Would a 6500 be better?
Cory Comunal 3 years ago

The 6500 would work well for this rod, but if you want the extra line capacity go with the 7500.

So these rods have a fast action? Looking to use them for Butterfly Jigging...

Alyssa Madosky 4 years ago

Yes, these do have a fast action. This rod would be perfect for using butterfly jigs as well.

Asked by Jaime 3 years ago

Will a 7 ft 6 in or 7 ft be good for speed jigging and slow pitch as well? I am looking for a rod that can do both decently. Thank you.

Paul Olah 3 years ago

Both will work well for both speed and slow pitch jigging. Choosing the 7'0 may be a little more comfortable.

Asked by X 3 years ago

Would the 7'6 spinning handle jigging upto 16oz for lings?

TackleDirect Customer Service 3 years ago

These 7'6 XH rated rods are rated for 2-8oz, typically you can get away with a little more just vertical jigging but i wouldnt trust it with 16oz. i would recommend looking at the OTI Pitch Black jigging rod

I have two Shimano Tekota A line low profile reels that I want to load with braid and use for trolling mojos for large bass 40 + lbs
Would like a rod that will give some bend to allow you to play the fish, not a meat stick. Would this rod in a 6 ft mh

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

The tsunami rod is more geared towards jigging. A great rod for trolling mojo's is the Tony Maja mojo rod.
