So far, so good

Good rod, haven't hooked that lunker with this rod but, sensitive feel for surf perch pecks makes it a fun day in the surf. Lower guides are Big, so finding an affordable case for it is a little challenging. Overall, very pleased with this rod. no wind knot's on braided line. Credit to the large guide?

Great rod for the money

good action and handled lures with some chunk bait

Its not bad.

This will do the job. The 3 piece construction looks like it's gonna hold up.

The action seems s bit rubbery at 2oz. But, if you plan this as a having a fun afternoon or two on vacation with a packed up tight car, this will do.

The pieces stay put ok, the reel seat seems good. The guides are ok. The tip guide is brass.

If this was a 2 piece rod, read more it would be like a 50 or 60 dollar one.

I'll define try use it for fishing after work, but more than am hour or two, I'll be stuffing an airwave elite in there.

Strength and size would be fine for fluke, blues, or typical striper. I'd not want to cast much over 3oz or be jigging inlets from shore. Definitely more of a lure rod than a heavy pyramid weight thrower.

Howevwr, definitely better than a 7ft rod.

Best rod brand out there for the price

They are literally manufactured around the corner from where i live ( less than 5 miles) in Mahwah NJ and are truly fantastic. I would recommend this company to anyone, plain and simple. This is my current pole from bottom fishing to Mahi Mahi and even smaller sharks. I even caught a 300+lb shark on my tsunami reel rated for 40 lb and my tsunami pole rated for 80-100 pound line read more in a chum slick 10 ft from the boat and wrenched him in. My father went out and bought a $300 custom rod years back for it's lightness and sensitivity, but when i handed him my rod to hold so i could get a sandwich, he he wouldn't give it back and went out and bought one of these. The thing is so sensitive you can literally feel the types of ocean floor terrain you are on, and distinguish bites from that, and also it is light as a feather.

Take anywhere rod!!!

Used primarily for jetty salmon fishing here in Benicia California, its also excels for stripers off the same jetty using bucktails or soft plastics. Throws a long way even with the lightest of spinners or bucks. Sensitive tip and most importantly... doesnt take up any space at all in the trunk.

It's was so easy for travel and save space.

How much does the 9'3" rod weigh? Can the bag fit a reel in it? I got a penn SSV3500 with 15lb fireline. Think it would be good for early season striped bass and fluke, mostly bucktails.

Bernie 5 years ago

The rod is out of stock but when it becomes available well be able to get a weight for you. The bag will only fit the rod and would be good for fluke and striped bass

Bernie 5 years ago

The rod already comes with a cloth bag but will be shipped in a box, the 45 inch st.croix rod case would fit the need for a travel case.

A few great reels to consider pairing with this rod would be the Tsunami Shield 5000, Penn Pursuit III, or Shimano Saragosa SW.

Asked by Paul 9 years ago

Do the feruls of the Tsunami 3-pc surf rods have their own specific geometry or do they follow the taper of the blank creating excessive dead spots. I'm not looking for perfection at that excellent price, but would pay a little more for decent feruls.

Customer Service 9 years ago

Hello Paul! The feruls on this rod are consistent with the geometry of the rod. They are, for being that style, very accurate as far as fitment and quality. Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions!
