Great fishing rod for the money

Fred

The first time I acquired one of these rods it quickly became my favorite. This rod is perfect if you need to make long and accurate casts. The line guides (especially the first or stripping guide) are larger than on comparably sized rods by other manufacturers which helps to significantly increase casting distance.

6.6 MH rod

The rod is so sensitive and i am pairing it with Daiwa Legalis 3000 however the butt is too long and the rod looks shorter than 6.6,i am happy with the purchase.
I have caught so far a 7 pounder pike and a Brown Trout from lake Ontario

Takes a lot of abuse

i have been using these rods to commercial fish striped bass for the last month+ consistently fighting 30lb fish. these rods have been handling the abuse great. i have them paired with daiwa BG5000 which is a bit overkill for the rod, but for my application it works perfect. i did pop an insert out of the end guide, but easily repaired it. best rod for the money and will compete read more with many of the high dollar rods.

There is no better rod in this class - ESP. for the money. Very well constructed and able to stand up to my abuse. I wish they had a hook loop.

Great rod for the price

I ordered this rod in accident and was going to send it back, but I figured for $30 bucks it wasn’t worth the hassle. I’ve paired this rod with a BG3000. It’s been great for the spring tautog bite. I also used it jigging squid. Plenty of back bone to get the togs up. Great quality and you can beat the price

Can't beat it for the price.

I recently bought the 6'6" medium heavy spinning rod.
You can't find anything in this price range that's better quality than this.
I have several of these five star rods in various models and they're all very good rods that I use myself from time to time, but also allow the kids and grandkids to use when I take them fishing.
These are real fishing rods, not toys that read more you'll have to be fixing and messing with all day instead of fishing.
And the cost is not much more than you'd pay for a big box Snoopy toy that might look cute, but makes taking a kid fishing more of a chore than a joy.
These are suitable for actual fishing for anyone.

If you are looking for strength, good looks, and the features that make a good rod good, all at a price point that is excellent, then this is your rod. I have the 7 foot version and it is super tough but also lightweight.

Highest value rod

I mainly use this rod for catfish but I wish one of my saltwater rods would break so I could get one of these! Strong, light, quality components but no Hook keeper

What a rod - great value

Have already caught a handful of 10+ lb Jack Crevalle, who fight really hard at any size. Rod handled them with ease. Recommend, if you want a great inshore rod !

Good rod for the price

For the price this is a good choice. Good to lend people when taking them fishing or charter guys looking for a solid but cheap option

First time out i boated a 5ft 50lb black tip reef shark. Awesome rod for the price

Outstanding value

I bought this rod for inshore sound fishing at the outer banks here in NC. The length and action are outstanding for calm waters and also when the winds get heavy. It held up very good while catching flounder and bluefish. You will not be disappointed with this rod. It looks more expensive than the price you pay.

Asked by Vin 3 years ago

Would a Shimano Sahara 4000 pair well with a 7' MH?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Yes, the 4000 Sahara would fit nicely on the 7' MH.

Asked by luke 7 years ago

would this rod be good for fluke fishing off boat

Donald 7 years ago

The 6'6'' MH or the 7'MH would be a good rod targeting fluke form a boat.

Asked by Mark 7 years ago

Is this a 2-piece rod?

Donald 7 years ago

The only 2 piece rod on the link you sent is the Tsunami TFSS-662MH Five Star Spinning Rod. All the other rods in this series are 1 piece rods.

Asked by Patrick 6 years ago

Would the 6'6" MH rod be good to pair with a 5000 size reel?

Devon 6 years ago

A 4000 would be a more appropriate size to pair with this rod.

Asked by Doug 6 years ago

Would the 701H be a good match with my Daiwa BG 5000 ??

Donald 6 years ago

The Daiwa 5000 BG would not match well with the 701MH. The Daiwa BG 4000 would be a better fit for the rod you have chosen.

Asked by Corey 6 years ago

I recently bought the 7'0 MH. Would it pair nicely with a Penn 4,000 series reel or should I have went with something smaller like the 6'6 or 6'1 MH to pair with the 4,000 series reel.

Donald 6 years ago

The 7' would balance well with a 4000 Penn. I wouldn't use a 6'6'' rod with a 4000 reel. 7' will cast better and provide more leverage when battling fish.

Asked by Ed 5 years ago

Would the 7 foot rod pair well with the quantum th50?

Rebecca Redington 5 years ago

That combo will pair well.

Asked by Mark C 4 years ago

Rebecca Redington 4 years ago

This rod weighs 9.6 ounces.

Asked by Tim 3 years ago

What's the weight of the 6'6 MH. 2 piece rod

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

This rod weighs 8.6oz.

Asked by Josh 3 years ago

Would a tsunami shield 5000 series be a good pair
for the 7 ft MH rod? Just purchased 2 of the rods

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

Your best option would be the Penn Battle III DX 4000. The 4000 size will balance much better on these rods and is the better choice, overall, for this rod.

Asked by Ty 5 years ago

What is the length of the rear cork grip?

Bernie De Graaf 5 years ago

13 1/4 inches long for the 7 footer

Asked by Alexis 3 years ago

7ft MH would it work well with the penn pursuit 3 50?

Austin Kearney 3 years ago

For the 7' MH I would go with the 4000 size Pursuit III.
