Tsunami Carbon Shield II Spinning Rods are designed with Fuji K Guides with Fazlite inserts. Made with feather light IM7 graphite blanks with D16 nanotech and unique carbon fiber design. D16 Nanotech blank technology consists of multi-directional layers of IM7 carbon fiber that have been injected wi...th nano resin and wrapped in 8 different angles which evenly disperse flexural force in 16 directions. This combination provides an extremely lightweight blank that resists twist and adds hoop strength. These rods make casting to hooking and fighting big fish as easy as it gets. Skinner approved!
If Skinner likes it you will too. For me this is a great rod for smaller stripers, cod, and other fish on the smaller side of things. Great feeling to the rod.
Nice rod
Great rod for the money! Also the green matches my boat so thats another bonus!
As advertised
First, Tackle Direct makes sure your rod will arrive safe and intact. The packaging is superb! Next, the rod itself feels great - looks great. Admittedly, I have not used the rod yet, but I think if you are looking for a rod that won't fatigue you but has some backbone - this is it. Very light rod, but the butt has the strength. I'm looking forward to using it on my next Fluke… read more and Porgy trip.
Perfect Rod For Inshore
Ive been using these for a few years. They look nice with sea-foam green. They are sensitive. They cast well. They are strong enough for big Stripers and Mahi-Mahi. I matched both of my rods with Daiwa BG 3500 reels.
Great Rod
Performance has been great
Sensitivity of response very good
Light weight perk when using heavy lead to bottom fish
Beefy whip of a rod
This rod is great for casting lures between 2 and 4 ounces very far. Has tremendous power, best bang for your buck. I watched a 70lb tarpon get wooped in Less than 3 minutes on this rod.
Skinner made me
big fan of Skinner, bought this so I can be like him someday, look great, sea foam color change to cool blue at night time, will pick up another one later
8ft x heavy 1-4
this is a great rod, strong on the fish. i put bot an 8000 shield and a 6000 saltx on it. surprisingly i did not like my 5000 evict on it very much.
rod turns fish very well, but it did not like to cast anything over 3 oz even though it is rated for 4
Very light
Glad I bought this.

Great all around rod. Versatility and stout for its weight. Good backbone
Cute rod
it?s very good for the price
Versatile Rod
Great back bay rod, sensitive with plenty of backbone. Was a bit concerned about shipping to PA, but Tackle Direct did a great job and I received the rod quickly and undamaged
Finesse with power
I have the medium light, it's perfect for throwing lures 1/4oz all the way down to 1/16th oz. It's got enough back bone to wrestle fish in the 20" range no problem. I have mine paired with a Shimano stradic fl 2500, added a geomexus power knob, the chrome reel and the chrome seat on the rod look really cool together.
I now own 3 of these! Love them a bunch.
I love these rod and have had great success with them. They come at a great price point and have yet to disappoint.
Good rod
The rod has back bone but is also sensitive to feel everything.
The rod itself weighs approximately 6oz
For the 7'ML I'd go with the 2500.

Like most rods, this rod can technically handle larger weights than what is listed, but once you get to that point, casting distance is severely affected and you'll have to lob it out as opposed to casting it. Line weight shouldn't be much of an issue as
The 8' model would pair up and balance better with a SaltX 6000.
Hello, The number of guides is 7+ tip. for the 7'6'' model.
Depending what you primarily plan on targeting i would recommend the 7' or 7'6 M or MH rated rod for most inshore/nearshore applications
I would recommend the 7'6 Popping version of this rod if you wish you pair with that reel TSU-0339.
The model above just had a bit more durable and upgraded rod components.

The VR175 may be a bit over kill for these standard models, but may pair
Often times Manufacturers will over rate their rods when it comes to lure rating. That 1-4oz rating could really be 1-2.5oz, when anything 3+ is pushing its limits. Usually the sweet spot for rods lies in between the lure rating.
A Shimano Stradic CI4+ 3000 size would pair nicely with a Tsunami Carbon Sheild II Spinning Rod for Mahi.
The Tsunami Carbon Shield II would pair verywell with the Tsunami Evict in the 4000 class.

Hello Noah, Yes the 4000 will fit on the 8ft model
This rod will work but may be a little light for 3 oz
The 7, 7'6 Medium-Heavy models will work best.
This rod weighs 6.4 oz's.
Yes this rod will work for jigging for blackfish, but wont be the best rod if you get a good size fish on. It has enough backbone but not suited for anything with size to pull up.
Hi Jonathan, I would recommend a 10000 Saragosa SW A Spinning Reel. The Larger reel is needed for added line capacity for targeting Tarpon. https://www.tackledirect.com/shimano-srg10000swapg-saragosa-sw-a-spinning-reel.html This
I would not recommend throwing any lures heavier then 1 OZ. If it slightly over 1 OZ it wont't hurt though.
10 3/4 inches
The 7'6 or the 8 foot model would be good for pier or jetty fishing.
Yes, that would be a great combination.
The rear grip is 9 inches
A thunnus 4000 or really any 4000 size spinning reel will pair well with this rod.

Hi Josue, We recommend you going with the Daiwa BG in the 3000 size to balance the Tsunami Carbon Shield II rod in 7'6 MH for your applications.

Hello James,

A 3000 sized reel would pair up well with the 7'6 medium. Depending on the brand you can go up a size. Shimano tends to run a bit smaller so a 4000 size reel from them would fit as well

David,
The Tsunami Carbon Shield II spinning rod TSCSHDII801XH will pair nicely with a 6000 size reel. Either a Penn Battle III 6000 DX or a Shimano Spheros SW 6000 would be better choices. The cork is 5" fore grip and 12" rear grip. Please let us kn
David,

Depends on the line of reels but you want to stay between 5000-8000 depending on the reel. Personally I would say stay towards the lower end at a size 5000-6000.
