Fantastic Rod

Perfect rod to travel with. I was a bit doubtful of the performance of a 3 piece rod, but my first trip to the coast of NC confirmed my doubts were unwarranted. Love the rod.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE BEST TRAVEL RODS OUT THERE

Nice rod…until it broke

I bought this rod for a trip to AK to fish salmon in a few rivers. The rod looks nice and casted and felt balanced. I was fishing 10lb test on the rod rated for up to 12 and after hooking into a nice chum salmon and having a good fight for a few runs up and down the river the rod snapped just above the base of the upper section. Luckily I had also bought an okuma nomad at the read more same time for about half the price and it held up great for the rest of the trip.

Great rods

I purchased the ML spinning rod for a recent trip where I used it for some light surf and inshore fishing. The rod is very light for a travel rod coming in at only 4.6oz on my scale. It is also plenty sensitive, and has a great build quality. Best of all it fishes pretty much like a one piece rod, which is a weak point of a lot of travel rods. The travel case is also excellent, read more and is very compact so it takes up very little room. Overall I was happy enough with this on my recent trip that I came home and immediately ordered the MH casting rod to go along with the spinning model I already have.

Love these TFO rods

Light and Sensitive

I purchased the medium weight travel rod. Super light and sensitive. Feels like a 1-piece rod. Exactly what I was looking for. Caught a 4-pound large mouth bass on my third cast with this rod. The "feel" of the rod is awesome.

Great Travel Rod

Bought the H spinning rod and used it on a trip to the Dominican Republic paired with a 4000 stradic and powerpro. Very sensitive, great feel. Caught snook and jacks. Rod considerably outperformed another competitor we had as well.

Easy carry on.

This is a sensitive rod that casts great. Can’t believe it’s a three piece till you’re in the airport. So easy to travel with. Great value and convenient.

Very nice travel rod.

I ordered this for a small mouth trip requiring travel to Lake St Clair. The rod is well made and the grip is very comfortable. The case is very nice which is an improvement over previous rods that didn't have one.

Would the Stradic FL 5000 match well with TFO 7’ H travel spinning rod for Southeast US larger fish species?

Alyssa Madosky 4 years ago

Yes the 7ft H model would pair nicely with the 5000 Stradic. Both being more than capable for handling larger inshore species in the southeast.

I am interested in a TFO Traveler rod and I would love a recommendation. When I travel, I typically target inshore mangrove snapper, sheepshead, reds, speckled trout. I fish from both pier and boat. Would you recommend medium or medium light in the spi

Sydney 4 years ago

The Temple for 7'0" medium casting will be a great fit for a casting setup.
If you prefer spinning rods I would go with the 7'0" medium spinner.

I would go with a medium-strength to give you more backbone against the snappers and the sheep more
